Default Blackstone lab analysis

Decided to give it a shot, and run a blackstone on my OBS. 135 000 km (85 000 miles). ~3.500 mile oil interval change, though a year ago I completely missed one and happily drove twice that amount. Running synth oil since the car had 60 000km / 37 000 miles. Currently on Castrol Syntec. Not much relevant mods beyond a catch can.

For some reason Blackstone decided I have a turbo . Emailed them asking if it changes the reference values

Nice, uoa. You can easily push your oils changes longer, IMO, and n/a Subaru's are very easy on oil. You're barley in 30 weight territory (<9.30 cst = 20 weight) but that's normal with an energy conserving oil.

What were the driving conditions and what air filter do you use?

Generic paper air filter, I change it 2ce a year. Mostly freeway driving with one daily red-line (got to love traffic lights which become a freeway ... nothing like a legal 0-60 zone!)

I wonder if HG failure shows up early on a UOA.. I guess it would through traces of coolant!

Yes, usually a sign of a bad HG would be high very sodium and potassium. And it's not necessarily high sodium alone since some oils use sodium in their additive pack.

Yeah, there's a wide variety of additives used, so it's useful to know what's in the oil to start with as a protective device and what's getting introduced from outside sources.
