Default UTEC compatibility question (wrx vs sti)

first off, ive searched and cant find any solid information on the subject.

im looking to get a UTEC for my 2005 WRX (going 16g soon, and my local tuner prefers it). im very new to UTECs, as i have used OpenSource and XPT maps to tune my car ever since i went stage 1 a few years back.

basically, everywhere i look, people are selling them for 02 WRX's or 05 STi's. some people have told me the STi UTEC's will work with my car, and others are saying they are make/model specific.

what im trying to find out is can i use ANY UTEC (be it for an STi or WRX), or do i need a specific one? i know a lot of the units im looking at are used (cant swing the coin to get a new one), so im not sure if there are differences in what people are selling, and what is shown on the turboxs site. any light that can be shed on this would be helpful.

You need the 16 bit 02-05 wrx UTEC....Ive got one on my 04...I'm not aware of using the sti which is 32 bit on a 16 bit WRX ecu.
