Default swap 2007 sti drivetrain in 2003 wrx?

I am looking for some opinions on how hard it would be to swap the drivetrain of a 2007 sti into a 2003 wrx. I destroyed my 5 speed and replaced it with another one that has a bad 3rd gear syncro. I ran across a guy with a wrecked 2007 sti for cheap and I would like to upgrade. Thinking about swaping the engine, transmission, and rear differential. It seem like it wouldn't be to bad but I have only recently gotten into subarus so I am no expert.

If you use in the transmission/differential your going to either need custom axles or the complete cv's, spindles etc. Also the 05+ sti run a different bolt pattern so you'll need different wheels.

Otherwise it's wiring and computer differences between the 02 wrx and 07 sti. So you'll either need all the engine and dash wiring from the sti or your going to lose avcs if your retaining the wrx harness.

2003 WRX Wagon

I'm in the middle of the same-ish swap. 05 STI complete drivetrain swap into my 03 Wagon. Going to get the chasis dialed in before we install the motor. (We're building it right now as well). I decided to do the hybrid motor bc I didn't want to redo all the wiring/ harness. Swap the drivetrain and get it all dialed in. Really boils down to what you're wanting and the budget you have to work with.

HEADS UP: What ever your budget is, TAKE OUT 10% and hide it. Don't count that 10% as part of your budget at all. Things ALWAYS come up and details are overlooked. That is what your 10% is for.
