Default AEM intake "is C.A.R.B. exempt"

I was reading the latest issue of Sport Compact Car last night and I noticed the ad for AEM intakes. AEM claims that "Every intake system is C.A.R.B. exempt or pending exemption (50 state legal)" and I must emphasize that they claim EVERY.

That's not the most important part . . . the ad also claims that they have applications for Subaru's. I was delighted so I check the web-site. Sure enough, on the application list, http://www.aempower.com/application/...pplication.htm , it shows applications available for 2000-2001 Impreza RS and 2002 Impreza WRX.

Does anyone know if the Subaru applications are exempt or if they are still pending exemption?

It's nice that they also have dyno charts for some applications. Too bad they didn't have any for the Subaru applications. I am really excited. If this is true, then the AEM would be the second vendor to have CARB legal items for Subaru's.

I think K&N filters is the first, right?

If it's CARB approved, it should come with a EOD#.

A quick lesson in marketing...read what they say very carefully. They say EVERY intake is legal OR PENDING. So, not every intake is CARB approved. Some are pending approval.

They also fit on MY02 TS/RS's.
