Default dropped off pistons to the machine shop/

okay so my block is being bored .20 and I gave them the pistons today. Do I need to tell them anything about the forged pistons etc ? Not that I would know squat but am okay sharing information.

make sure you gave them the spec sheet that was given with your pistons. I also hope you dropped it off at a machine shop that is familiar with subarus.. boring and honing a subaru case (emphasize on case) is much different from an Inline or V style motor... cases need to be bolted together, torque plates need to be torqued to spec, etc.. if this is not done, true clearances cannot be guaranteed.

okay cool....that was in there....they are familiar with subarus. how many hours are required to complete a short block build

I was quoted for machining, balancing and assembly 1-2 weeks.


It ranges shop to shop, obviously you do not want a rushed job and at the same time you do not want it to take months.

make sure you decide on your piston to wall clearance depending on your boost levels and power goals.

if you dont plan on going huge tell them you want the lowest ptw clearance recommended by the manufacturer.
