Question All I can find is 2.25in cat backs for my car!!!!

With the acception of the Greddy Evo and Syms. I am working towards a turbo in the next few years and have decided that the scoobysport muffler and 2.25in stromung midpipe I have currently won't cut it. Especially since I had to have the Scoobysport heated and dimpled to allow enough clearence between it and the driveshaft (It rubbed). No doubt that would effect the performance with a turbo. So, I would like to know what my options are for a 2.5in or 3in cat backs.

Cheers,

Chris.

Right,

We can get you a Brullen in 2.5" to use now and later with turbo. The 3" is too big of a flange to bolt to the stock cat section but bolts fine to an aftermarket turbo downpipe like my JC Sports kit.

We can also get VF22 ball bearing turbo kits made for you for $3,600 + S&H that rock.

How loud and deep is the Brullen. It has alot to live up to,considering its up against the Scoobysport. I want loud and Rally style sound.

a friend of mine just had an exhaust fabbed for his EJ20 conversion by titan motorsports, and it's 3" stainless piping from the turbo back (with nary a bend in it), with no cats or resonators, into a blitz nur-spec muffler. it's the most glorious sounding car ever...a little on the LOUD side though, as you can imagine.

You can order with three levels of packing material for quiet, medium and loud. No performance difference, just noise level is less and weight goes up with more packing.

Also you can get with or without resonator.

I have the 3" pipe resonated medium 3.5" dual tips with turbo and it is not too loud like my old Aerospeed bomb or Pro1 systems were, yet zmw was ticketed for his identical system in Texas.

A quiet resonated dual "3" resonated tips" system would look stock and only be a little louder than stock, but flow sig better. A dual tip MRT turbo back on a WRX is louder than a medium resonated Brullen catback. Trust me on that.

For the rally car sound, get the loud unresonated 4" single tip. Pay the tickets for noise, and enjoy.

For me that is the only way to go, but would it be as loud as the scoobysport (it would be a good thing )? Would there be any difference in volume between the 2.5" and 3" pipes?

Chris.

Generally the larger the diameter, the louder it will be...

ah yes, the beauty of living in FL...if we did emissions testing on the cars here, more than half the population wouldn't be able to get to their slave wage jobs at disney, and the economy would crumble.

i wouldn't worry about it for a few years then. an oversized exhaust on a stock or near stock motor SUCKS! very mushy pedal feel.

RCR: i think they do testing in south florida again. they did it everywhere up until the late 70's, early 80's. i remember ridin' with dad down to the local chassis dyno to blow some unburnt fuel. lol.

save your money on buying a pre-made exhaust. Any reputable custom exhaust shop can make you a larger diameter system for about 1/2 of what i'll cost to buy a pre-made exhaust.
