Default kbb values question - 2.5 rs

Just wandering why so many 1998 - 2001 2.5rs are priced well above kbb values

I noticed that too when i was shopping around for mine. Maybe because they are a harder car to find in good condition? I got mine (99 RS) for 4500 w/116k miles on it but the underside was a little rusty.

It's because last year they were priced at about $8k-$10k on KBB depending on condition. I was only able to get mine for $5k because it had a rebuilt title (Light front end damage. Basically had to swap in a new front core support and put on a new bumper/pair of fenders. To quote my mechanic, who didn't do the work, "beautifully done"). I get the feeling there was some horrible glitch with the website, and they only just recently fixed it. Regardless, it's taking the internet at large a little time to catch up. Damned good thing I'm gonna build the s@#$ out of mine before I sell it, 'cuz I'd be pretty well buggered if I wanted to sell my car stock. Ain't no sense in losing money selling a car that I actually enjoy driving.

They are a very popular car with tuners and KBB doesn't account for that properly/fully. BTW I would pay much over KBB though but that's just me.

They were a low production sought after car. The market is driven by demand. A lot of people want them and there are only so many nice ones left. Most of them have been beaten to death.
