Default Why's MY02 RS has different intake ?

I read the July issue of "Sports Car" magazine and found that a picture shows the intake resides above the front grill just like the stock WRX intake style.

Why is that different from my MY02 2.5RS ?

or did they post the wrong picture ?

I know that a JDM NA Impreza uses this kind of intake instead of what we get on our RS.

Neil-

He's talking about a stock intake. Did your stock intake look like the RS (source from fender area) or like the WRX (source from grill with weird triangular pipework back to fender area).

Greg

The '00-'02 used the same exact stock intake. They look virtually identical under the hood too.

Perhaps it is a picture of a WRX engine bay and they are a bunch of idiots...

I didn't buy that magazine but it's a July issue. Inside that issue, there're 2 pages talking about MY02 RS.

I'm sure it's not a WRX picture cuz there's no intercooler on it.

Still confused....

thats what mine has, or had anyway.

little long flat scoop thingy behind the front edge of the hood, on the passenger side, that looks like it scoops from the grill and hood, then goes into the big box thingy, then through the tube to the filter.

yes, that's the intake silencer; one of the worse human creations of all time. I've got ripping those out down to an art.

my stock intake isnt on the car anymore, i think its in my attic, but it looks like Kostamojen's. i dunno how new mine was to the rest of the country, but it was the 1st ts registered in my state, so it was probably in the very 1st shipment of them to arkansas, and just sat on the lot for a while.
