Default All motor vehicle department workers are IdiotS!...

IdiotS!!!! i go to ask about shipping my car to here and the hong kong transport department is retarded

me: can i ship my car from canada its left hand drive...

her: yea sure...

me: really?? what about taxes..?

her: no you don't have to pay taxes..

me: what? i thought you have to pay taxes...

her: no you don't have to pay taxes... you can ship the car but you can't use it... (she was serious)

me: well then whats the use...

her: you can ship it here and put it in a show or in your garage... or something.... but you have to tow it to move it within city limits

(so here i decide to screw with her)

me: So what if i modify it to right hand drive... can i drive it then...

her: ummm....i guess so...

guess i have to find some STI steering columns... LOL

Even if you manage to get it there and make it so that you can legally drive it, the insurance is gonna kill you anyways... yeah, they don't really have a clue about LHD cars in HK. However, is China RHD as well? I thought not.

Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper just to buy a car there, and get rid of it when your done with it?

I dont know about HK, but used cars here are dirt cheap. Used STi V3 & 4's in decent condition go for about $10,000-$15,000! Too bad parking, insurance and taxes are crazy expensive.

You can't get going more than like 100km/h anyways. Not enough room

damn man thats sweet tulit.... you goona get one?

i don't think they are that cheap here... the lower models are... like the Ls and stuff... but a lot of the performance ones are recycled and resold... pretty high in demand...

but hey tulit.. hows it going in japan.. sweeeeeet?

also i can ship my car for 1000 bucks... hahaha pretty cheap...

I dunno.

The Japanese gov't doesnt recognize north american drivers licenses (but most other countries it does. Wonder why? ) I either need to try and get an IDL, otherwise taking the actual driving exams here is too complex.

I'm not here for long enough to justify the cost. The taxes for buying a car right now are also very high (taxes vary depending what month you buy).

$1000 is a lot less than I thought it would be. But thats weird how LHD is illegal in HK? Theres quite a few LHD cars here (like Mustangs, etc.). I have no idea any one would want to drive a mustang when they have access to real cars

Its going good in Japan. Pretty whack place, but really isnt all that different from Canada. When you going to HK? Should come hit up the tokyo autosaloon with me

Hey guys, I have a question for you...do you have these wreck yards in HK/Japan? And is it expensive to get stuff from them?

Hyper, Ive found a few. I had someone one from work here call them up for me, but havent visted any. I try ordering some stuff from has-rally. Ill see if I ever get it

Depends on what your looking for. Normally the popular parts are gone pretty much instantly (late model seats, brakes, suspension, wings, etc), but the prices are very decent if you can find the parts, especially for "older" cars (>5yrs).

The thing about Japan is that when a car gets a few years old, the owners seem to prefer to just scrapping them instead of selling them, so theres usually a good supply...

New parts are about the same price, if not more expensive here (like name brand stuff, HKS, STi, Cusco, etc) I dont understand it fully, but you can get all kinds of stuff you cant find in north america.

Thats something Ill probably have to find for you at the dealership (unless I find a wrecked forester with those).

I can check for you if youd like. I doubt they'll be cheap though. If you can get me a part number, that would be great.

But I have to say, those look exactly like the ones from the GC8 Impreza. I wonder if theyd fit?

well jdm stuff like assessories i beleive are in pretty hig in demand... lots of people dress up cars.. but stiff like engines and trannys and alum. control arms.. (stuff i want ) heheh are less wanted but also not much supply... i think itd be hard to find bumpers and such. I'm now thinking of getting a GC8 or GTR shell and just waiting for the engines and stuff... cost less and actually learn to build the car... sadly i might have to sell my GC8...

but LHD cars aren't illegal... i see them all the time... but i just have to find out how to register it... since the mainland is LHD many of them go down and drive around here.... but yea japan has some US cars because they were forced to buy some with the VAT trading law with US i think its gone now... i'm already in hong kong... where all just watching world cup now.. lol

To whoever asked if China was LHD or RHD, I believe it is LHD as is Taiwan.

I don't know. They are brand new Mustang GT's that I see a lot of. About 1/2 of them are being driven by white dudes (not a common sight).....
Im thinking they imported them here on their own. No idea why though

Probably American forces guys, I think some of them bring their cars with them when they are stationed in Japan for any length of time (probably ship for free on an air foce transport or something).
