Default Oil Weight 10w30? or 15w50 ?

I was at RiceZone today to pick up my normal hit of Synthetic Oil:

1. M1-104 Mobil 1 Oil Filter
1. 6 Quart Box of Mobil 1 Oil

Today when I was standing there I noticed the 15w50 weight oil and it said "for high performance applications" Now many people would say an Automatic 2.5RS isn't high performance, so I looked at the 10w30. it said "for higher millage engines".. Hmmm I got 25,000 miles... I dont consider that higher millage.

But 10w30 is recomended in the manual for hot weather. Just currious if 15w50 is needed for the Turbo applications more than a lil N/A 2.5 plant.

I picked up the 10w30 like I normally have in the past. I am like an Oil Change junkie. I use some of the best synthetic ( and some of the more expensive( well .. not as much as that snake oil Amsoil ) ) and I still change my oil every 3000 miles on the nose... hell the oil I am draining is almost as clear at the oil I am normally putting in! heheheh

there was a thread about this a while ago in service and maintenance. honestly, unless you've done a lot of mods & are always driving your car harshly, 10w30 should be good. in the wrx manual, it "recommends" 5w30 or 10w30 and says you can use the other weights (up to a 50) depending on your conditions. i don't see much reason for using the 15w50 up here
