Default Which dealer for oil change

I am close to 3,000 miles now and I have the Maintenance Plan so I need a good dealership to get the first oil change done. Also does the dealer use synthetic oil if I requst it? I am looking to get it changed this week. Also how long would it take for them to change it. I live in SF so help a brother out with some info.

If this is a prepaid plan, I doubt the dealer will use synthetic. They'll probably charge you extra for synthetic.

Dude... doubt very much you'll be able to request synthoil without paying a tariff. Pesonally, I didn't switch to synth until the third change.

Your best bet would be Santa Cruz. Far, but their service is top notch! Second choice would be the place you bought your car. Then if they screw it up, your salesman will be right there to yell at.

I was gonna razz you for not changing your own oil.

I bought mine from Carlsen but I haven't brought it in for any service there, haven't had a need to and for oil changes I'd rather do 'em myself.

As for putting in synthetic, I just changed the oil on mine a bit earlier than others at ~2000 miles. I put in the new Mobil 1 syntec stuff (5w-30) since I'd been doing the "drive it hard off the lot after warmed up" theory of break-in. Any remaining piston ring seal will be done within the first 100-500 miles anyway (depending on how you drive) so once you're past that there's really no reason not to switch to synthetic.

Default oil changers

I like mobil 1, and the oil changers where they don't raise the car, but do it from underneath.

Have to be careful, as they accidently dumped the auto transmission fluid in my car, then replaced it with API-3. I've got to get Dexron III back in there.

Anyone see an advantage to putting synthetic (mobil 1 or redline) f and r differential oil in? or is the factory fluid good for 30K or so?

I have the engine oil changed in all 3 of my cars with Mobil 1 synthetic only, and factory filters and crush washer every 3000-4000 miles.

Have 11,500 miles on the wrx, but at 15K miles, the service mainly looks like an inspection and oil change. I do have a squeaky seat that I hope can get tightened up.

Default Synthetic Turnover

I've been running synthetic since the first oil change. I just had my 15,000 mile service today and requested they use my engine oil (5 quarts of Redline 10/30 synthetic) as well as change my Transmission oil NOW (3 quarts of Redline MT-90). I'm pretty convinced this will really keep my engine in top condition for the years to come as I do drive it pretty hard. First impressions (of the 3 mile drive from Albany Subaru back to work) are that shifting is somewhat smoother but I'll wait til the drive home to fully note the differences...
