Default Need help with block heater wiring

So the block heater plug on my 2011 came off (snapped right in the middle of the wiring) and now I'm planning to replace half of the wiring along with a new plug. The thing is, I can't tell which is which aside from the green (ground)

I need help!!

As long as neither wire is grounded, polarity doesn't matter.

Agreed, a block heater electrically is like a light bulb, no polarity.

Total, how many wires do you have?

Thanks a lot.

As long as the ground (bottom) prong is correct then it does not matter in AC.

So what was the answer? Now that you know, share the info so someone else can find it if they end up in the same situation you were in.

In most applications it doesn't matter. With a standard 3 pronged plug, I believe the larger prong in neutral (white wire) and the smaller is the hot wire (black). For a properly grounded system, such as a GFI circuit, I believe the above should or must be followed. In this case however it will conduct electricity either way the wires are connected.

Edit, just realized , OP was in Canada, so household electrical wiring codes may be different.

In A/C applications. You only need to get the ground (the middle rounded prong) right. The 2 flat prongs does not matter because alternating current flows both ways. Still its a good practice to get ground neutral and hot wires right.
