Default HEADS UP! Compliance letter for the US

This is the strangest question i got from a customer service rep from Subaru of America:
CSA: " Does your car have an automatic seat belt?"
FENG : " What do you mean by automatic seat belt when our cars does not have a door frame?"
CSA: " Sorry your car could not pass the US compliance, you would need to contact your dealership."
FENG: " I guess i have to call Subaru Japan to tell them to add door frames on my car so that i could get automatic seat belt " CSA: " Yes sir, perhaps your dealership could assist you to do it for you"
FENG: " May i speak to a supervisor please?"
CSA: " Sorry noone is available, you would need to call back during the day, eastern time".
FENG: " Thank you"

This was last Wed 4pm mountain time.
After talking and explaining to 3 ladies and finally a guy yesterday, i FINALLY received the letter fax to me today.

It is our understanding that, although your vehicle was not imported into the the US by Subaru of America, the emission standard system is identical to those which were EPA certified as U.S 49 State multi purpose vehicle (MPV) specification by the manufacturer, Fuji Heavy Industries, LTD. Your vehicle also complies with all U.S safety standards as the speedometer read both in miles and kms.

This was part of my headache for a week!!nothing was mentioned
about the automatic seat belt......

Default Automatic Belts...

I remember in the early to mid '90s, that U.S. cars are required to have automatic seatbelt if they were not equipped with airbags.

The widowmakers? Automatic belts are those stupid mouse belts that run on a track on the door frame. Why in gods name would you want those in your car? They've probably killed more people than they saved.
