Default Loss of gitty up and go

My 97 Legacy Outback I was driving last night I come off a highway exit ramp go to give it gas and I have no power I crawl to 45 my engine temp stayed fine I have normal power till about 2,500 rpms and their is a rattling noise what could be wrong? Could it be a clogged cat? I Thought maybe the head gaskets but heat stays hot and no bubbles in my over flow tank

What kind of ratteling noise? If it's from the engine it could be a rod knock.
when idling, can you rev the engine pass 2500rpm's?
