Default LED Tail Lights + Eyesight = No Bueno?

I purchased some LED tail lights off of another user that was selling his Impreza. (like these:https://i.ytimg.com/vi/aVXJszLUlLo/hqdefault.jpg) I installed them (at a friends house) onto mine and they worked great, but they immediately disabled EyeSight. I was driving back to my house with the intention of swapping the stock ones back on, and my dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Hills stop assist, Stability Control, transmission, you name it!

So I pulled over and put the stock ones back on and all the lights were off and EyeSight was working fine again. Everyone I know running these lights run them fine, but they don't have EyeSight.

Any one know what could be causing this? Is there a way to fix this to run them on my car? If not, are you guys interested in buying them?

You probably need CAN bus compatible LEDs, I'm guessing the ones you bought weren't CAN compatible. I should also add I just tried to find CAN bus compatible 7443 CK bulbs and there are none. The socket needs to be CK, 7443 non-CK will not work, and the non-CAN compatible bulbs like the ones you have won't work properly either.

Yea, i'm not sure if the are CAN compatible. I'm thinking I should just let these go.

Yeah the CAN bus system doesn't like anything being touched in the Subarus with eyesight/hybrid system (crosstrek).

Fixed it for you.

Very few people understand how interconnected the systems on modern cars are, and that an apparently benign change can cause a failure in a seemingly unrelated system.

We used to play "Six degrees of Kevin Bacon" to see if we could connect any failure to any mod - in most cases we could. Aftermarket tire valve stem caps to an ECU failure? Check. Painted sidemarker bulb to catastrophic CAN-BUS failure in a Jetta? Check. While some are a real stretch and may not happen in real life (the valve stem caps - ask me how it is possible), others, like the painted bulb, came from real life failures that cost the poster a ton of money.

That's why I always caution people to think about all of the possible consequences of a mod before they begin and to consider if the benefits outweigh the risks. I always also ask myself "why didn't the manufacturer do this?"

In this case, we know the downside and we also know the manufacture didn't do this.

Contrary to the CEO of United, these guys do not live in a fantasy world. They know what customers want and they know that the buzz word is LED when it comes to lighting. So, why didn't they implement this? Perhaps because the simple bulb swap was out of the question (see the OP's experience) and a workaround would have been too expensive.

Here it was an easy fix, but other mods are quite capable of frying expensive bits.
