Getting closer--did you energize the BCS and verify you can blow through it? Have you done an ECU reset yet? Remove the positive battery terminal, pump the brakes a few times, and reconnect it.

Yes i j.used a speaker wire and put it on the batt. it was hard to blow thru it tho. gotten up to 10PSI. i am getting a boost leak test done later this week. when i told the shop i only had 7 psi they were like omg your crazy. so i think if i come back to them and say im at 10 that is a little bit better.

going to reset ecu once i get some coffee in me

thinking of going ahead and oprdering that grim speed EBC with the 600 rpm faster spool.
i am getting my open source tune next month so i think that will help.

Did you hear the BCS 'click' when applying power? It shouldn't have been hard to blow through when energized.

no it did click but it was not a continuous click. evert\y time i gave/ removed power it would click. is it posed to kep clicking while power is applied? and it was hard to blow thu it lol

That behavior is correct, but it should not have been hard to blow through. That might be where your problem is. The BCS bleeds pressure away from the actuator. If it's clogged or jammed shut then you'll always be at low boost.

Try swapping the BCS out with a known good one.

I just ordered the restrictor pill from the dealer. It only comes with the vacuum lines with the pill installed and i think the T connector comes with too for ~$20

Thread is nearly a year old. Wait for some replies or search why your cars stuck in open loop. Bumping year old threads wont get help any faster.

Default damn you subaru

Ive done everything that everyone has suggested on this thread, including new MAF censor. If i ecu reset, i hit target boost, its only when i shift and do multiple gear pulls that its drops itself to 9 psi. Im positive its not waste gate or turbo failure since i hit target boost when the MAF is unplugged or if i disconnect the hose to the bcs.

I activate the bcs manually and it opens fine every time. cleaned and blow through tested......... reset ecu and it will hit target boost if i stay in one gear and move to neutral, but if i do the multiple gear pulls....... it resorts to 9 psi.

ive been working on this for weeks now and im frustrated.

any ideas?

ive also heard that if your exhaust isnt mounted firmly and it taps any portion of the engine or drivetrain, it will cause the knock sensor and ecu to run the car in a "safe mode" which wont throw a CEL. Any thoughts guys? i know this thread is a year old but i dont wanna start a new one and gum up the main page with stuff thats already being covered.

i cleaned the absolute piss out of it..... i can hear it click and open on both hard wire 12v and ecu 12v. checked the connection for power and it has power....... i can blow through it with ease and there isn't any more residue draining when i clean.

I ordered a hks evc5 electronic boost controller. will that eliminate the oem bcs or should i order a new oem one?

out of curiosity what fuel do you run? good fuel, clean injectors, fresh plugs, etc all contribute to good readings to the ecu .. resetting ecu, hitting target boost once and then limited to 9psi sounds like the ecu is seeing knock or numbers it doesn't like and maybe pulling timing or mix etc

I don't know a lot about ecu **** it's just an idea

If ur on the iem bcs it's likely dead..could also be a problem with the lines going from the bcs to the turbo. No, that aftermarket bcs will make ur situation worse unless you tune for it...its a 3 port, oem is 2..regardless, ur changing the signals that the ecu would have to process..not by much, but enough to give you problems

91 octane no ethanol.. highest grade we have here... have done the fuel system cleaning... plugs have under 600 miles on them.

it will hit target boost multiple times..... its only when i do multiple gear pulls.

Hey!
I was having a similar problem, only to find out the fuel was the issue. The ecu kept seeing knock and pulled the boost right out. You will need to re-tune. The stock ecu is very aggressive in knock boost reduction.

Did you try replacing your union screw and filter into the turbo?

Is this normal?
Did you find out what the problem was i normally get 12 or 13 psi and i was only getting 7psi, when i clutch it and let it roll on a stop sign rpms drop and car gives a small shake like if im about to stall it acting like i wasnt giving it enough clutch yet it was all the way down, when i put it in gear and start to accelerate the reaction time takes quite a bit iand still feel like dying unless i floor it more that normal dk why its doing that its not throwing codes or anything, car like to bog and kick letting off the throttle either 1st or 2nd gear to anyone know anything that may be causing it?

Have you tried resetting the ECU to see if it pushes more boost?

Have you tried some of the trouble shooting in this thread?

Is your car stock or modded? If modded, what mods?

Either someone replaced a bit of hose in there and you no longer have a restrictor pill - the hose at the bcs is leaking badly - the bcs is bad - or your turbo is on its way out..

So make sure the restrictor pill is in there - pull the vacuum line off and check for cracks.

You "should" get a check engine light if the bcs is bad.

This is the correct advice.
