Default My Rental car...

...has mad understeer and smells like feet! Bahahah you can't drive a late 90's Ford Escort like a WRX.

But it does have a better stereo, and i can skid around with the e-brake. So I'm happy. Hopefully I will get my baby back today from Carlsen...they are replacing my 4th gear and synchro. I think ckevin was going to do the work.

Anyway...just thought I'd share. It's depressing leaving work and having to get in a Ford Escort...I'm embarassed to drive that thing. What a total and complete pile.

mexicanpizza,
You should take pics of burnouts in your rental. Go to a secluded parking lot. Get some bleach and put it in front of the front tires, and a little on the tires if you so desire. Pull into the bleach box, brake stand it, and let HER RIP. Cough cough. LOL. We should get a site together called RENTALS. People beating the hell out of their rental cars.

It's all about the rental baby. I love those things. Especially if the handbrake works. The last rental I had, you could pull the handbrake straight up ninety degrees and it still wouldn't hold. It sure is fun mobbing a rental though. The burnout thing is cool, but it's even more fun to just drop the gear selector into "D" or "R" while keeping the revs up. Little screaching tires are fun. Have fun with it, it'll make you appreciate your own car that much more.

Hey Kevin...it was nice to meet you briefly that morning. I appreciate you finding the problem...I was afraid I was going crazy on that 3->4 shift.

Oh and don't worry about the rental car...I was just saying that it doesn't compare to my subaru...I'd drive anything as long as it's free!

Muahahaha. Does the bleach chemically melt the tires or what? Never heard of that. In high school we used to roll the rears up onto Taco Bell trays, lock the handbrake and go super slide happy in our FWD cars. Those were the days...nothing like seeing someone pick up a tray with a contact-patch sized hole melted through it, and stare at it trying to figure out what happened to that poor tray!

A few years back I had a Chevy malibu for a rental. I swear this thing could do 15 flat (which was quick for the camp I came from ). You know the Kragen near City College on Ocean (used to be a Gran Auto)? That nice big parking lot? Malibu's do some nice donuts

Then a few years before that I had a Metro, I think it was. It was an auto so leaving it in Drive-1 and getting on the free way made for lotsa laughs just bouncing off the rev limiter. I lost (and retrieved) a few hub caps that week to. My best friend and I just had the best spleen-splitting, drool-choking, laugh filled week beating the crap outta that "car".

Even so... both times I was glad to get my ride back

When I had my 2001 Mitsu Lancer "Crap Edition" as a rental...I thought I was going to die. Abuse the car? Impossible...it didn't have enough power.

Dead stop, floor it...no wheel spin.

Dead stop, auto tranny in 1, floor it....no wheel spin.

Dead stop, stand on the brake, floor it, sidestep the brake....very boring unimpressive dull wheelspin.

Puke on that car man...

No no no, you've got to rev in in "N" then drop it into "1" or "D". That'll get you some wheelspin if the car's light enough.

Yes! Oh yes! I totally loved the cleanliness of my car! It was almost as if I'd washed it myself! And the problem appears to be gone! Thanks very much for the great work and the super nice car cleaning!

Great job for Carlsen yet again! They even returned my rental car for me!

I never did the bleach burnout thing either but the engineer that sits next to me says they used to pour bleach on all the tires and do wicked burnouts in high school (caution, lots of rubber bits fly out the back when doing this!).
