Default Electrical Distro Box for Guages

Im going to pre-face this by saying this is not going to be for a Subaru but I can see applications for it being that way

I have an idea about making an electrical distro box for gauge and minimal power use accessories to make it easier for installs. Basically it has a power and ground input on the sides or back, but on the actual face itself, it will have "Outlets" to plug gauges into. Heres a VERY rough sketch on what its going to look like:

(post formatting might not make it look like a box, but it has one line of pos one line of ground terminals)
Basically the Pos is coming from a 12v accessory line and the Neg is just grounded. All terminals are wired in parallel and they will have screw like connectors (think as in the back of a receiver for speaker connections).

Does this at all seem logical or am I over engineering something? I just HATE using vampire clips to tap into a 12v line when I have a free connection.

there are ALL SORTS of 'free" connections if you look for one.....and the NEG is as simple as finding a chassis bolt

I understand. The car I'm working on for a friend has a basically "free" connector to where I can hook my 12v to. All its there for is to be tapped with a female spade connector. I already have a ground point with a 12ga cable so it would be strong enough for multiple things. I'm just looking to do a clean install where additional components can be added with minimal work. I am 100% against vampire clips.

Similar setup I used on my STI, with the exception of adding a 30A relay and dedicated + % - lines to the battery. I was able to keep the cig lighter hot all the time and clean power for stereo, gauges, and under seat subs (using the relay and acc on). Radio Shack has all the parts including project boxes to mount the contact bars.

The car Im working on is a S2000 so the options are going to be a little different then a Subaru. The main goal of this is to have the "Box" be hot when the car is on, not from the battery.
