Default 2015 STi Flex Fuel Protune

Alrighty where do I begin...

I bought and installed all of the parts for the Cobb flex fuel and then some per the tuners minimum required parts for the tune (I added some extra parts for my peace of mind):

1. ID 1000 Injectors
2. Cobb EBCS
3. Cobb Flex Fuel Sensor
4. Cobb Fuel Pressure Sensor
5. AEM 320lph Fuel Pump
6. Cobb Intake w/air box
7. GrimmSpeed 38mm Up-Pipe W/EWG
8. Tial 38mm WasteGate V-band
9. IAP Stumble Fix.
10. CNT Catted Downpipe W/Heat Wrap
11. Cobb V3 Accessport
12. Mach V Lava Turbo Blanket
13. Mishimoto Top Mount Intercooler
14. Grimmspeed waste-gate bracket
15. Gold heat wrapped Y-Pipe
16. IAG AOS Street Series (E85)

So initially I was going to have Mach V tune my car but found out that Jr Tuned was going to be at IAG so i went that route (which i regret and will explain).
Im sure everyone knows or has heard about Jr Tuned but incase you haven't he's a very popular tuner in the east and midwest (shops have him fly in as a backup/preferred tuner) and is well known for his high HP and TQ tunes at a reasonable safely margin.

So I had an appointment with Jr for a flex fuel pro tune at IAG (my first pro tune ever) on my birthday. So we'll start off with my IAG gripe.. first they didnt explain the process for the protune for flex fuel... they never told me how much e85 i needed to bring or if i needed a limp/base map to get there.. I had to ask my friends then call them back for this info in which it was very unorganized and took nearly till the week before my tune to get my base map (mind you my sti is my daily and i made the appointment a month in advance and needed to install my parts and I couldnt drive my car at all...) and a big issue I had is they said they wouldnt tune my car unless i get an EBCS Unit and didnt bother to tell me till the week before rather then when i first called..

Day of tuning, So I made it to IAG and am in excitement for my tune. Got there a couple hours before my appointment just incase and the tuner started on my car right at my appt time including my pre inspection. Car had a couple issues with the fuel pump rings and my fuel pressure sensor but fixed those issue in an hour or so then Jr resumed tuning. So after about 2-3 hours of walking to the back to check on Jr (he was on facebook most of the time lol) he finally finished! BUT with problems....

So somehow my si drive was flipped.... the ****?!
My S mode was the high boost setting and my S# mode was low boost.. IAG offered to make another appointment to fix but I declined. So my dyno sheet said that I was making:
322whp 333wtq on 93oct @18.2psi
342whp 414wtq on e85 @24.5psi

I am happy with these numbers.

So after leaving IAG after my protune I noticed they unplugged my dash cam... suspicious.. and never plugged it back in..
My boost was also very off with 24psi peaking instantly rather than linear.. so i got home and my ebcs was all out of wack with wrong hose routings... so Im now left wondering how the eff did they protune my car with boost not being correct..
After the finding I corrected my hose routing and I unplugged the battery for the car to drain power (trying to see if this will fix my Si drive issue) and then reconnected and reflashed with the only jr tune on my access port which also fixed my Si drive.. now that i fixed my ebcs routing my car wasnt over boosting at 29psi at 3k rpm! But now my car isnt boosting properly with the gas differences (93oct @ 18psi and e85 @ 24psi).. and my car has been boosting at 24psi for both fuels... which is WRONG. So after looking at my accessports loaded tunes i only had the base map on it (Jr never saved the effing protune to my access port!!!!!) so I had to email him for my darn tune and he didnt even apologize for it...

So lessons learned:

IAG and Jr Tuned are very sloppy, unorganized, non communicative, not informing and very poor at double checking. If I was a newbie to the car game my engine would have been long since blown.. Jr is what you say " high status" and is a "celebrity" so dont expect to talk to him personally... (what a ****ty mentality, so you will have no input or get to ask questions)

Please use caution and pay attention to your logs and gauge readings, it'll prevent you from blowing your engine and getting what IAG wants... a forged built motor which makes them money.

Rev works will now have my business as their customer support is awesome... even if it means i need to drive 700+ miles to get work done. Hell you even get to stand next to your car as it gets protuned vs IAG and their little window where you can watch the protuner surf facebook... dont get me wrong his tune is pretty damn good but the experience to get that tune is crap.

Going to call BS, the dude has tuned 100s of cars in our area. Works insanely hard to get everyones tunes done in the 3-4 days he's in for, and we haven't ever had an IAG block blow because of how fantastically built they are. This story doesn't add up to the years i've been seeing JR do tunes.

I'd be very careful and pay close attention to your boost after changing then ebcs routing.... You should know that there is more than one way to route your reference lines with an ewg and 3 port ebcs - each require different tuning. I also hope you have a wideband...

And if you wanted a more linear boost curve, this is something you should have mentioned before the tune, as this is not a normal request and not how boost control is typically tuned. How you describe how JR did yours would be normal.

I don't blame him for unplugging your dash cam, but I can understand the rest of your struggles with IAG and the communication. As far as JR goes... He didn't save your map on the AP, that's about it. Not a huge deal.

Yeah, i mean the situation I had isnt a common issue with Jr (but is common with IAG as ive had 5 people complain about them in our nova subarus group). But the fact of the matter is Jr was sloppy with my tune (you can call bs all you want dylanisco0l but ive first hand encountered issues with him with my car so not sure how you came to the conclusion that i was bs'ing cause it sounds like you never had your car protuned by him and only can go by cars in your area... and there is no one protuner that is absolutely perfect.. enough of my digression) i do have a wideband gauge and on the paper you use to fill out to communicate with Jr through IAG ive let him know how i wanted my car tuned (whether he took to my suggestion is a mystery as he doesn't talk with his customers directly and uses IAG members as a middle man). My buddy that had went with me for my protune had his 2012 sti tuned by Jr months before and is having starting issues with his tune. At the end of the day the protune is absolutely fantastic, the process of getting it is not. Just giving my 2 cents and its your choice to believe my experience or defend your beloved iag and jr. Im not making any of these things up guys lol... wouldnt waste my time writing this for no reason...

Thanks for the Post. I was considering IAG but now it sounds like I need to look elsewhere. I think most of these shops can learn a lot about customer service and professionalism. Having these components can be hugely beneficial to their business.

there are more than one way to run EBCS lines. When i had my mikey tune with a ewg and 3 port i was all run one way then when i got my new motor and a bunch of other mods done by Jr it was run a different way. Some run a hybrid system with a MBC and ebcs and others dont.

I have a Jr tune for flex and absolutely love it and am very happy with the results. I even went through 2 revisions of the map to have it all dialed in post tune. I have called IAG and sent dozens of emails when my motor went and i was trying to find the best situation for me. They were always there to answer any questions i had.

So to come on this fourm and bash one of the best subaru shops in the country as well as one of the best tuners you are going to need more back up than "my ebcs was hooked up different and the dash cam was unplugged "

No one said I was "bashing" them, i was stating my experience. That fact i stated my honest experience with both IAG and JRTuned (which no one is perfect) and i had issues with them and several other friends that went to them I'm just informing the people that even with the big reputation that they have they can also mess up. If your motor blows and you contact a shop that builds motors of course you'll get top notch responses as they make way more money selling their motors and having you tune it with them vs any other simple service/tune like I went in for. As for what you said:
"So to come on this fourm and bash one of the best subaru shops in the country as well as one of the best tuners you are going to need more back up than "my ebcs was hooked up different and the dash cam was unplugged"

Obviously you did not read my entire post. There where a number of things they can improve upon on and after stating what I found crappy with them. its funny how you tell me that they are top notch when your tune from jr blew your motor...(is what I'm assumed by your wording).

All in all i did state i love my tune from JR but IAG and JR could give the experience a more human touch and interaction than to just treat it like a sloppy dealership oil change service....

If that's not bashing I don't know what is.

L.O.L. What a good person you are!

That's an absolute shame. IAG is one of the most respected Subaru companies out there. In public and on this board. They have always been nothing but professional whenever I've dealt with them, and I've never heard a negative thing about their builds or tunes.

Same goes or Jr Tuned. It's a shame you let one pissed off reviewer rob you of one of the best Subaru tuning/engine building companies out there.

Lol that ain't bashing, thats the truth of that place (from my experience)
Anyone would be pissed off of they found out late after their pro tune that they where running a base map for months... would you be happy if you where?
(And after months of trying to get ahold of JR and never responding and having to do a charge back to get his attention so i can get him to email me my tune) Of course alot of people love IAG and JRTuned and alot have good experiences and become fan boys/girls (which i can easily see on this thread alone) but there is also some negative ones which is unavoidable and I decided to explain it on here.
