LOL^^^

Rosberg's luck is continuing, Hamilton power unit is f**ked, not taking part in Q3. New power unit means starting from the back AGAIN.

This is becoming a bit of a crazy season for Hamilton. Interesting and crazy indeed.

So is Hamilton going to be smart and start from Pit lane thus avoiding the crashapalooza this is turn 1?

These are pretty good, but I'd put Yakov Smirnoff in the top 5, he might even podium. In the paddock, he was quoted as saying, "In America, F1 car drives YOU!" I think he's got something on the rest of the field this weekend.

Hang on, my bad. Hamilton will start from 10th place. He can still win if Rosberg makes a mistake somewhere. I doubt it though.

He apologized.

I can see how it's not deliberate but a definite mistake.

Not the first (or the last time) that a driver will misjudge braking and go long, and as for the run up at speed, same situation.

Exactly. Kvyat locked them up in the first corner which is on him certainly, but FAR from uncommon for any driver on the first corner drive from the start. Sucks for Vettel but not the issue most are saying it is.

That second hit, Vettel lifted when he saw one of the Force Indias get squirrely in the corner ahead of him on the inside line. And why wouldn't he? Understandable. But it's on a very fast corner where drivers are still accelerating and he backed off. Kvyat should had time to react and avoid him, sure, but Vettel instigated it.

The whole thing is a mess and it's a shame that so many people are looking for Kvyat's head on a stick, apparently including his teammate.

Eh, it's racing. Stuff happens. Drivers can and will make mistakes. Just looks pretty bad for Kvyat that it had to happen twice to the same car. If it wasn't Vettel that was hit, it probably wouldn't be blown up as much as it has (though IMO Vettel didn't "instigate" any thing).

I can understand the first hit. But the 2nd.........more reminiscent of Grosjean going too balls out and not paying attention to his surroundings.

Great job Mclaren Williams and Haas!

As for the Vettel/Kyvat incident, (the second hit), Vettel definitely lifted where you wouldn't expect him to. Especially if Kyvat couldn't see the car Vettel was braking for. But at the same time, it seems like if he was paying attention, he could have gone around on the outside and gained a position. There was room out there.

It was actually 3 hits. Kvyat locks up going into the corner and hits Vettel, then accelerates into Vettle in same corner....then fast forward to the sweeping left where even the Williams (?) to Vettles left is slowing...and Kvyat hits him again.

Part of road racing is not knowing how to go fast, but how to take an off line, when to slow, reading the current turn but also the turn or straight ahead...
I think this kid just isn't grasping the limitations of his car (hence the PlayStation type corner dives and tire lock ups).

I'm going to look at the in car Kvyat footage again and see if he is fiddling with the steering wheel when he hits Vettle that last time. That's usually what caught Maldonado out.

I didn't realize there was a Motorsports section here on NASIOC. I posted in the OT F1 Fantasy thread and was directed here.

Man, I'm getting tired of the silver arrow pairs being up front for everything, every race. It makes the race pretty boring to watch, I'll still watch the races, but I'm not as into it as I was in previous years.

And I'm tired of Nico winning, I'm not a huge fan of his, never really was in past years and it feels like without the power that the silver arrows have, he wouldn't really be a contender.

It was actually Perez, although no one seemed to even mention even once how he got the puncture. It was more a matter of fact that then impacted the 'real' crash they wanted to talk about. Now that I go back and watch it, it looks like Kvyat rams Vettel, who gets shoved into RIC who ever so slightly nips Perez's tire:

https://streamable.com/s7t2

Shame because he got a great start and was staying out of trouble.

Welcome aboard! Yes, it's another season over before it started. I continue to watch every quali and race because I generally enjoy it but I've picked up watching MotoGP and the racing is incredibly better. Sure, you'll get a 'follow the leader' type race every now and then (like last race in Jerez) but in general, the wheel to wheel combat is insanely closer and it's far more compelling as you can see the guys riding and hanging it out there, not just a head in a cockpit.

^^^ I agree a lot with that. I'm not a fan of Nico...but I am really no longer a fan of "higher than thou" Hamilton. They were saying his latest transgression against the fans was he refused to wave at the crowds or sit with the other drivers in the parade lap at Sochi.
This dude needs to realize that with out happy fans, Mercedes won't give him his $30+ million a year.

He has turned into such a diva premadonna. I'm not much a fan of that attitude.
