Default Droid bluetooth - manual connect every time?

I have a motorola droid 2 global (running Android OS 2.2). To use bluetooth audio or call through my WRX premium non-nav HU, I have to reconnect every time. My old "non-smart" phone would automatically connect to the car as long as bluetooth was turned on. My phone just says the CAR_M_AUDIO is paired but not connected and it doesn't try to connect unless I tell it to.

Anyone found a way to get their android to automatically connect? Is this an issue for everyone uising a droid? Is it just my phone?

The issue is you probably did not delete your old phone from the HU. If there is more than 1 phone in the memory, it won't auto connect. At least from experience.

So go into the settings and delete all the phones. Delete the car from your phone. Now, redo the 'setup' and it should reconnect properly.

It auto connects with my Galaxy S 2.3. Sometimes it stops working, but a restart of the phone fixes that up.

I've got the HTC Incredible and the '11 OBS. For me, for whatever reason, it took a few tries to get the stupid thing to connect. I tried various combinations of setting the phone to disoverable trying to find the car, and trying a few different things with the car... Eventually it connected, but, like you, I had to do it each time. Then one day it just connected. As if said, "Oh, I get it." and went on from there.

My wife uses it with her phone sometimes. Half the time I have to re-establish the connection manually when I get back in. I never had to delete her phone out of the system.

This all can be a little frustrating because I wasn't even sure if the problem was with me and what I was doing, with the phone, or with the car. But it's all pretty seamless now.

I will say one further thing. It takes a few seconds to connect. When you start your car up, it can be a little bit before it switches from saying, "No-Device" to "Connected." What may have been happening in those early days for me is that I was not giving it adequate time to start up... just a thought.

THANKS!

Fixed... Chip90 was right, the old phone in the #1 slot was still there. I didn't know you had to program the bluetooth call settings using the steering wheel controls and voice commands - otherwise you're just setting up the bluetooth audio options. So I set it up through the BT controls and deleted the old phone, now reconnects automatically every time to BT phone as well as BT audio.

I know someone mentioned it but 90% of the time its the problem. So I'm going to reiterate. Did you pair it using the steering wheel and voice commands? It seems almost everyone one of us has this issues when paring through the HU or phone and winds up here to get that advice.

Figured it.out. for everyone that is having this problem use your voice commands to sync. Delete all previous phones (not all phones come up on h/u alone). They must be deleted via speech enabled menu. Any more pm me and I can help ya. Thanks forum friends

I had these issues when switching from a first gen Droid to the Rezound. Reading the owners manual is a big help is solving most of the confusion. At least for me it was.

I was also having the problem with my '11 WRX and Droid Incredible. Once I used the voice command to pair it, it automatically connects every time. It also stopped my phone from playing music on its own once its connected.

I may re-pair it and see. I did the voice command initially. Thanks.
