Question Oil Temps...Too High?

So, i have taken a look at some other threads relating to oil temperature but none has satisfied exactly what I want to ask. I have an '05 wrx custom tuned to 19 psi on stock TD04, motor built (CP pistons, sti rods, acl bearings....etc etc). When hitting stop and go traffic especially my oil temps go up quite a bit. I would have to say my normal operating range once warmed up is between 180-200 DF but sometimes it will climb to 220-260. Is this getting too hot or just on the warmer side of operating temps??

**would also like to add my oil temp probe is below the alternator on the top galley plug

180 to 200 is normal, and even up to 210 in traffic. I never saw more than 230 at an autox/PDX day though so your 260 reading seems high. I'd check and see if the oil cooler is in place and plumbed correctly.

Alternatively get an aftermarket cooler.

Best to check the calibation of the sensor. Water boils at 212° wrt sea level.

This^. The oil really needs to see 212+ to boil off any moisture that is present in the system (it is present from condensation that occurs after you turn the engine off).
