oil light on '02 wrx
Red oil light is just *barely* glowing. Unaffected by lights on/off/dimmer.
Is this a short...? Does glowing a tiny bit note a problem thats not bad enough to be fully lit? ?

Check your oil level - the oil light comes on when there is basically no oil pressure. If the oil level is fine, then the oil pump could be going - try using a pressure gauge to measure the actual oil pressure and see if the sender is going, or if you really have no oil pressure.

If i had no oil pressure, would I get a CEL?
Oil level is great, just a smidge above full dot. Is the sender an electronic item accessible from outside the engine? |

Your oil pressure is fine, you have a bad connection from sensor to block. Usually caused by corrosion or moisture. The sender is below the alternator on the top of the block. Remove, clean and reinstall.
If you had low oil pressure (the light comes on at 2.1psi) the light comes ON. |

Oil level is only 1 factor in no pressure. The sensor is under the alternator. |

Well that makes sense. Run it for a day and see if moisture evaps or should I replace / fix connection?
Top radiator hose blew last week, sprayed off coolant carefully with car running. Where do I look for this? |

The 2-prong elec plug going straight down into the engine? Left of center of the altenator?

It should be right under the alternator, I don't remember how many wires but it's threaded directly into the block. |

I just experienced the exact same issue, blown radiator hose and dim oil light. Thank you so much for the insight friends.

This happens in my car after heavy rain. Moisture gets in the connection to the sensor under the alternator. Letting the car warm up and evaporate the moisture makes the light go away.
