Default Ripped off hard.

Bear with this.. It's insane.
I listed my 06 500whp super built STi for sale due to lookin for a home/more practical vehicle. Wham I found a NASIOC memeber looking to trade a 07 srt8 jeep for a STi. I had over 25k into my car but I was willing to take a little hit for something more practical for my job (electrician) I meet up with the member of nasioc in August and we end up deciding to do it. I go to my bank with all info to transfer my STi loan into the jeep. We trade this and that plus money on my side. The same week I get it it blows a t case and the kid said he never had a issue. Ok well that's fine. 1k later it runs again.. Then someone breaks into it and gets off with 2k in things . Soo I go to get my key reprogrammed for the new viper alarm I put in. Vin was fake, oh. Yes it has a car fax for its entire life and a clean title soo why is the vin fake.. Because under the fake Vin was the REAL vin which came back stolen and never recovered.. Soo now I'm ****ed. I call the state police and report it an they come an take it:| I contact the kid I traded and he said he can't help me and basically that I'm beat, as he is is selling a bunch of parts off the STi. I ask for the owner before him number and called him, he told me before I even spoke any issues I have isn't his problem and dont call that number. I had a lawer dig into this more, turns out the title came back to his name the day before we traded, that he went to have dealer work done and they told him it had a fake vin and he started an argument with the sales writer and was thrown out of the dealership. soo now I'm in debt and am declaring bankruptcy and this kid has my car. Now that house I was going to buy isnt going to happen and my holidays are RUINED.

This was my STi, I'm sure you have seen it :| try not to buy parts off of it listed for sale.

Holy crap man, that is like worst case scenario right there. So much shady business.

Are you totally SOL? What I take from it at the end of the story is the kid knew it was fake ect ect and went through with it anyways just to get ahead?

Yup that's what I figure he had it for 3 months and put less then 1000 miles on it.. Then when it gets taken he's freaks out. I'm not sol I'm Gunna go after him but it's Gunna cost me alot. In the beginning no lawyer would help or the DA of MA and NY and the att general. I was sad I couldn't cope because I built my STi by myself and spent alot of time and money and lost EVERYTHING.

Selling a vehicle with a fake vin is against the law isn't it?

Yup... That's where I'm confused. I guess I was going to get charged with a felony like a month after it was taken for being in possession of a stolen car.. Wtf I reported it and did it all right.. K thanks

I had to take time off of work to mentally cope with it. Then I get left with nothing and I asked for the money I put on top back and he told me he couldn't possibly help me but then he's selling another car on this site.

If he KNEW he was selling a stolen car then isn't it not a legal sale and you should be able to get your car back. And also shouldn't that dealership have called the cops on him as soon as they knew it had a fake vin?

That sucks you got screwed in the deal sounds like you should definitely lawyer up though and cut your loses

There's something missing here. It isn't going to be hard to figure out when the VIN changed. Whoever registered it with the new VIN either made the change (after buying it for cheap or stealing it) or was duped by the seller. This is all in the history of the vehicle, I would expect the RMV and state police to be interested in this as it is serious fraud.

Get your info sorted, even Carfax should help piece the timeline together.

Talked to carfax they said they only cover information that has
Been submitted to them and basically said don't even blame us.. I know the OG owners name he's a surgeon in Yonkers. He's old and I'm sure he wouldn't have a issue paying for that to dump it. But for Brendan to do what he did to me te way he did is a joke. He wouldn't tell me what he payed nor would his mom. I don't get what the big secret is.

Sounds like that kid is screwed.
If he new the vin was stolen then he had prior knowledge of a crime and was also knowingly committing a crime selling you the vehicle.

If this doesn't end with you getting your car or money back I have lost all faith in the world.

Wow. This is a new one. This kids slick, and mommy is standing behind her scumbag son. And that's b.s. if he claims he had nothing to do with it. He knew what he was doing and he's looking to end up in jail. So STIMorris I advise u start hiding glass in ur ass and prepare for Nasty Nate! Good luck on sorting this out. Dude started steeling cars at 13 not cutting grass. Its a damn shame.

Right, and one thing that CF does well is gather records from DMV/RMV, they have all the dates that the car was registered, changed hands, got inspected... So the car had a fake VIN when you bought it, what does that VIN history say? Is it a real VIN off a destroyed car?

If the car only had two owners, this is going to be easy to resolve. A lawyer will help but it doesn't seem like you need one to get this sorted. Good luck.

Kyle's STi was easily one of my favorite Subaru's on the site. Sucked when you said you were parting with it and even worse now that you have to go through all this ****. I hope everything works out bro, I would be shattered if I was in your shoes. Justice must be served!

I wish I could lie about this but EVERYTHING I'm saying is nothing further then the truth. I work 5 sometimes 6 days a week for 2 years to loose everything for someone who was looking for a easy way out of a huge issue to rip someone out with a nice car. I lost everything I've worked for for over 2 years plus more. Now I can't buy the home I wanted to and move in with my girl, I can't take a loan out for 7 years. My life is ****ing ruined if you think I'm going to make ANY of this up your out of your mind.
