Default 2017 Impreza: Trip/Cruise Speed Display Flashing

2017 Impreza Base. n00b .

Is this normal?

It doesn't happen often. No CEL. There doesn't seem to be a problem, just kind of distracting. Cycling the ignition doesn't stop it. Cycling + Opening door doesn't stop it (i think i tried that, can't remember now). Goes away by the time I drive again.

Same issue on my wife's Sport Premium Sedan I can not get a straight answer on the cause. It is going back to the dealer this week for them to try to figure it out. They think it is a voltage issue from shipping.

Uh oh.

Update the thread when you get your answer.

I have to visit the dealer some time this, or next, week for a non-related non-issue. So I'll be bringing it up to them then. We'll see.

Will do I keep getting told the car is too new and the problem will be worked over time. It is more annoying than anything else. Especially since I have to turn the car off to clear it out.

So I was able to bring the car into the dealership today with the issue happening and they ran it through a diagnostic and nothing so they contacted SOA and they tried to trouble shoot over the phone they believe they narrowed it down to a resistance issue in the brake light switch. The new part should be in by Friday then it is just a waiting game to see if the issue is resolved.

Those retards had 5 years of 2012+s with that issue to figure it out. What the **** is wrong with them?

At this point the only thing Subaru has going for it is AWD. Cheap, ****ty interiors. Crappy paint. Awful electronics.

I like my car but figure this incredibly simple crap out, you cockheads.

Pretty much we had the brake switch issue in our 11 Impreza as well it is super frustrating dealing with it.

I'm surprised it hasn't happened to my car yet. IIRC one of the modules (can't remember if it was the bad ones or replacement ones) is Nissan. Then there was some other brand for the other ones. Maybe I have the good one. Or I'm just lucky.

Thanks for the update!

I'll have to have my dealer look into this.

I'm sure you've realized this by now, but when the "Flashing" happens, it makes the Cruise Control useless. It happened again this past weekend, so I decided to test out what works and what doesn't. I was able to "reset/stop" the problem by pulling over, turning the car off, key out, opened door, closed door, locked (via remote), unlocked , turned on car, *poof* magic. I can get used to this /sarcasm.

I don't think your ritual is magical, I think the fact that you're giving it a minute to reset after turning the car off is fixing it... it's the brake light switch. None of the things you did are related to that directly.

Typically when I notice it I have driven 5-6 miles in stop and go traffic. Yes the fault makes the cruise system inop. I think the guys at the dealer are tired of dealing with me so they just gave me a loaner till the part comes in.

Picked up the car today no issues so far but heading out of town on a road trip tonight so we shall see if it happens on the longer drive.

They are sending the switch to Subaru so they can run some diagnostics on it so maybe a fix will come out eventually if it keeps happening.

I don't know why they'd do that, they know there's an issue, there's gotta be at least 20 people just on NASIOC that have had to get their brake light switches replaced on just 2.0i cars. Not even including WRX/STI.

Apparently SOA was very interested in the issue since it is a 17

Maybe they should get the switches from a different company, seeing as there are plenty of models on the road without this issue.
