Another good point. I'll go scope it out before the cruise and see if an alternative location is needed and/or available. Any suggestions?

I don't think a gas station short of an large truck stop could handle that much chaos.

This one has a pretty big parking lot and has been sufficient in the past but, if it looks like it wont handle everybody, we'll find another location or improvise.

Oh and one more note for everyone, this route includes cattle guards and uneven pavement. if your car is really low, or stanced you may need to take an alternate route after Blanco. (use google street view)

According to my friend who was with me on the test run, i caught about 20 feet of air because i hit a cattle grid at about 60mph .
Of course his 20 feet was really more like 1 foot, but ill take his exaggeration any day .

But yeah, there really are a few that will **** up front ends if you are low.

There's one bump on Kendalia park road that I miss (or rather hit at speed) everytime. I've caught over a foot of air on it. Bilstein's and RCE yellows FTW

bring on some yumps. clearly, stanced cars should ride together and watch each others....fronts? yeah. Accelerate clean over - no bronco rides unless you have a lot of hair and a mounted camera. ha ha ha!

Hey guys (and gals) -

I am still looking for two more people who want to be group leaders.

Qualifications:

1) You have a co-pilot (to answer radio/phone)
2) You are interested in driving somewhat safely
3) You (or your co-pilot) can read a map

PM me your name and number if interested.

Hey all -- I'd like to join! I live on 183 in North Austin so this is too convenient! I picked up my 2012 WRX just a few weeks ago and I'm just about to get get out of the break-in period (at long last!).

I joined the 'Subaru WRX/STi Drivers of Austin' Facebook group and saw Garrett's post there. Count me in!

If I can make a suggestion (as I was just in the Hill Country last weekend). Try and stop off at the Sisterdale Smokehouse (http://sisterdalesmokehouse.com/).

Easily some of the best bbq I've ever had.

The burnt ends are fantastic (they take the fat cap off the cooked brisket and throw it back into the smoker for 4 more hours so it's crispy... if you like bark you'll love it). Prices are reasonable too and the roads around there are very good.

They are only open two weekends a month (first and third) but they'll be open the weekend you're planning this.

Looks delicious. Too bad we won't make it out that far. Know of anything in Blanco?

Personally, if I'm out in the hill country, I usually head up to Coopers in Llano for BBQ.

Coopers is literally my favorite place to eat on earth. I will drive 2 hours out of my way to get it. A route through llano, doss, and cherry springs might be something we could do next time.

Any one have any thoughts on an after party?

That's too bad.

This place is pretty new. I've not had Coopers, but I've had a bunch south of Austin and everywhere in between and this was very, very good. The banana pudding is made when you order it!

Hey - I am all for setting up another cruise around awesome BBQ locations. What would we call it? A "meat meet"? "Bar-B-Cruise"?

I'll be here all week. Tip your bartender.

you could do meat heat loops on a bicycle in Lockhart. Well, you could do one, then you'd need a rickshaw to haul your bloated a** around.
