Default going back to stock with out the access port

here is the back story if you care to read, if not just skip down

I recently purchased an 07 sti. the dealer had put the stock exhaust back on but didn't bother to tune it back to stock. when i agreed to purchase the vehicle they agreed to have it tuned back to stock for me. they took it to a reputable subaru shop in my area. the shop said they couldn't do it because the ecu locked them out. the car did not come with its access port which is making things really difficult. also they're not even certain that the car was tuned with an AP, its just what the shop thinks.

so now the dealer wants to mail the ecu to cobb instead of putting a new one in to fix this problem. when in fact no one actually knows if it was tuned with a cobb to begin with.

My question is:

if I find someone willing, can I un-marry they're AP for a few minutes to let me use to flash back to stock. then un-marry it from my car and give it back to them. or when i un-marry it from my car will it go back to the original unknown tune it has right now?

sorry if this was confusing

When its un-married from your car it will put the existing tune right back on to it. That's even if it is possible to marry it in the first place.

If your car was originally tuned using an AccessPORT, when you un-install a borrow AccessPORT, it will revert your ECU back to factory settings. If it was tuned using Open Source, then it will put whatever it saves during the install process back on.
