Default Anyone experienced in changing out the clutch? (North of Dallas)

Hey guys,

I'm in town to change out the clutch on my 95 STi in Denton, TX. I'm going off of some DIY threads to get the transmission out to replace the clutch/flywheel. Haven't done it before so if anyone who's experienced in doing this job is willing to come help out, I'll definitely buy beer & pizza. I'm waiting for it to warm up just a tad bit to continue my progress at the moment. I have the axles out and about to unbolt the exhaust. Unfortunately, I don't have the space to accommodate an engine hoist, which is the preferred method... so we'll have to drop the transmission.

Even if you're not experienced, you're more than welcome to come check out the car and hang out as well. Just PM me. I plan on continuing my progress starting the 21st.

If we get the car running, you'll definitely get some seat time in a genuine RHD 95 STi RA ver II as a perk for helping out

If it's a 6 speed transmission I would advise against dropping it to your chest. At least the newer STi trannies weigh a LOT MORE than a 5 speed trans. Tranny Jack is your best bet.

Make sure to remove the shift fork pin before separating the motor and trans. Plug the rear end of the trans(rubber glove will work as well with zip tie).

Thanks man. Just got the Trans out. Bought a cheap Trans jack. Hardest part was prying the Trans off from the engine due to a rusty dowel. Found a cracked exhaust flange on the downpipe and the axles won't free up from hubs, so gonna go to a shop to press them out. Hopefully no damage to the bearings but I may just order new ones to replace since I'm here already.... it never ends.

If you need the bearing pressed in on the hubs I know some napa auto parts will do it for 40/50 bucks.
