Default Road Trip Protection with Paste Wax?

Anything wrong with using a paste wax to protect my car on a 3,500 mile road trip during the tail end of the winter? I was just cleaning my car and thought about how much bugs/nasty crap will get on it so why not leave a nice coat of paste as protection?

I'll probably stop halfway to wash it all off and do it again if some pros on here give me a go ahead with my crazy plan.

Honestly...I am not sure how easy it will come off of parts like the hood and front fenders that are subjected to heat from the engine. Once wax is baked on...it can be harder to remove than bugs and tar honestly...

As for the rest of the car...should not hurt it but may be a bit though to remove still.

Don't do it. As mentioned above, you could be left with more of a mess that is harder to remove than the bugs and misc contaminants themselves.

If you're looking for temporary protection from road debris, etc., there are plastic films and spray on alternatives meant for this sort of thing. Im responding via my phone but I know I have a couple of post showing several links to products. Just going by memory I believe one was called "race wrap" by Speed Shield USA, there was another from Griots Garage and a spray from DuliColor called "Shield"(?).

Dont do the paste wax as protection. In the end it could be really hard to remove and actually cause more damage from you trying to get it off later on. Can cause really bad swirls and can mess with the paint.
