I have weathertech floormats in my car and cannot seem to get all the dirt stains off of them, when i scrub them and then rinse them off they seem to come clean but as soon as they dry the dirt stains come right back!
Does anyone know what i can do to get them completely clean?

What are you currently cleaning them with?

Spray armor all and then wipe it off, so it is not slippery. That's going to mke ur mats look like new again :-).

I was only cleaning them with ice car soap and then just scrubbing at them and rinsing them off.

I use simple green and a bristle brush and it is quick and easy.

I spray ArmorAll on mine, let it soak for about 5 min and wipe most of it off. Looks like new every time.

I have brown Weather Techs in my wifes Forester (our DD) that clean up with Meguiars APC+ diluted 4:1 (and agitation).

I would try an APC (all purpose cleaner) or something similar that has more cleaning power than a car wash soap. Just make sure that you test the product first to make sure it doesn't ruin the finish (ie discolor, fade, etc.). This is what I also use on pedals to clean them up.

Its just my opinion but I would stay away from dressings myself if possible since they can make the surface a little slippery. ....unless they are cleaned completely off which makes the whole purpose of their use a moot point IMO. ....YMMV.

I spoke with a Weathertech floormat vendor on the forums, and he recommended against using Simple Green for cleaning as it is an aggressive solvent and can cause the floormat to curl over time.

He recommended using a mild handsoap with rinse and drying in sunlight. To bring back the shine, he also recommended using 303 Aerospace Protectant.

Interesting..... That may in fact be the case but IME, the set of Weather Techs I have had for the last 4 years have held up quite well to repeated cleanings with Meguiars APC. The fact is that a mild soap just wont cut through some of the stains/grime at times. ....at least IME. This is a good point though and if in doubt I would go with a manufacturers suggestion before trying anything you read on a forum that might damage the product.

+1 for meg's APC+ cut ~5:1 on my subaru all-weather mats. Keeps them looking good.

I feel like using 303 on the floormats would get pretty expensive.

I only use a few spritz of 303 Aerospace Protectant on each floor mat (and wiped dry with a terry cloth towel) to bring back the shine and color when it appears faded, and this was after 2 years of use. I wouldn't do it every single time when washing the floor mats, as it's not needed and for cost, as you pointed out.

I think Meguiars APC and Simple Green may have different applications. From what I understand, Simple Green is more of a household cleaner rather than an automotive use product, so I'd tend to think it would be a more aggressive cleansing agent. I did notice that using a 50/50 mix of SG/water (spray, agitation, and rinse) to clean my Weathertech floor mats for about 2 years, caused my floor mats to fade and curl at the edges when dry. Using the handsoap instead and 303 after seemed to bring them back to life.

i use turtlewax interior fabric cleaner foam - the kind that comes with a brush on the tip. Cleans em up and leaves them shiny

As a NASIOC vendor, who offers Weathertech products. Here is our recommendation:

For those of you who need to remove heavy dirt from your Weathertechs. A citrus based cleaner works well, such as P21S autowash or Adam's APC outside of mild soap and water... Dish washing soap for the thrifty is not bad when diluted... Many of the stronger household cleaners seem to fade and curl the mats/liners. This is from our experience cleaning the liners. We use what we sell.

We still stick to 303 for the protectant.... It has at least for us, made clean up easier...

It also does not make the mats/liners slippery...

I spray the rubber mats with the tire shine foam. Works everytime.

dollar store tire cleaner. it works very well. i use it on all ny rubber mats. they look like new afterwards.
