Default 2000 outback under preasure at idle

just did the head gaskets on my buddys 2000 outback. car had 175K. i notice oil buildup in the intake wich i thought was piston rings. compression test came out with great numbers. only real problem is when its idling and you put your hand up to the plenum it feels like air is being pushed back out, go up 100 rpms and its under vaccum. i assume this isnt normal. any thoughts? (i do not have a vacuum tester but ill be picking one up soon)

could it have anything to do with the PVC system? i noticed their are no check valves, just hoses running to the intake.

There should be a pcv valve on the aft side of the crankcase, below and to the right of the TB.

Use a vacuum gauge to find out what the vacuum really is.
