if you go 3 inch you will most likely lose at low end but maybe gain a little at high, my 2 cents would be just buy an axle back because 2.5i's arent meant for power so if your just looking for sound go with a axle back thats what i have

What do you mean by upgrade? If you mean more power, that won't happen. If you mean better sound, that will happen.

There will be zero gains in power made by anything but a header

Impressive how the header increased 15whp +wtq with stock catback. Wonder how much catback would help.

I went with the Borla designed for our cars and it was a PERFECT fit. I was able to install it myself with hand tools in one hour, leak free. I am running it with the stock manifolds and it still sounds nice.

yes, that is a great price for 15whp, especially for an n/a. all you should need to do is extend the o2 sensor. Maybe others will throw in their input if im incorrect

If it nets you 15hp than there was something wrong to start out with.

I remember a huge article SCC did on aftermarket headers (before they bowed to the marketing forces) and the max increase they ever saw was 3hp... most were barely no change and a significant portion decreased power.

before you buy that... DNAperformance on ebay has the SAME CATBACK(cobbreplica) for 164 FREE SHIPPING. I purchased it after seeing this Jna one because I knew I could find it for cheaper. As for install nothing needed to be cut/rotated/welded.. the ad says bolt on replacement. save your money heres the same one for 164:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/WRX-STI-3-TU...5de83a&vxp=mtr

As for gains, small gain i guesstimate 8hp maybe.. but way better turbo spool and sound. This isnt super loud at all either, good welds, good noise level, great exhaust.
'
Edit: im sure they have a direct replacement one for your model send them a message

the 2.5i impreza has 2.25 piping sti exhaust has 2.5 piping but if u went to 3" piping you won't have enough back pressure so basically u destroy your car if you had a turbo like wrx and sti's then u can go 3"+ piping i got my sti exhaust on ebay for 25 bucks 50 for shipping 80 for install cant beat it check ebay craigslist and here for people selling them
