Default Ordered mine - estimated delivery?

I ordered my BRZ on 8/21 and called the dealer yesterday for a delivery update. They said they had no updates on my car. When I ordered it they said 8-10 weeks. Is there any way to get more info?

You won't get information for a while. They will have a sort of idea when the car finally hits port in the US. Even then, they will probably have a solid date for the arrival of your car about 1-2 days before it arrives at best.

I assume you have never ordered a car with Subaru before? I got the call that my car was going to show up the day that they pulled it off the truck. Sometimes checking the new inventory for a dealership will actually show a car as posted to the dealership before they even know it is coming.

You don't so much order one. They call you when they get one in.

Be proactive. Call around to other dealerships, tell them what you want and ask them to give you a call when one comes in. If they ask for a deposit, tell them "no problem, just give me a VIN and a delivery date and I'll write a check". I "ordered" mine and ended up with another one from a different dealership.

Several of us in Alaska ordered the first week of April and the cars have just now started coming in within the last 4 weeks and another one possibly next week.

The ones that ordered within days of the open orders being accepted received their's within 2-3 months.

A huge gap between then and now with no rhyme or reason.

Until Subaru actually assigns a VIN number/Vehicle to your VON(the number assigned to your order) there is no way to track anything. Typically from what I've seen, it takes about 6-8 weeks from build date to reach delivery to the dealership up here in Alaska. The shortest time I've seen is exactly 6 weeks (mine was 6 weeks and 2 days), longest I've seen is 10 weeks. Total time though took a little less than 5 months, but I ordered it way early, and there were five sold orders ahead of me for Subaru to fill first (Our dealer was allocated 12, first two came in May, second two came in June, one in July, and one in August were delivered before mine arrived on August 13th.)

What takes so long is the assignment of your vehicle from Subaru. Some of the people that ordered their cars back in April aren't going to get theirs until November because of allocation (ie: number of cars allocated to dealer spread out over the months). If you added port accessories, expect a longer wait because the accessories will be installed before the car gets to the dealership.

I'd give your dealer the benefit of the doubt that they don't actually have any idea when your car is going to be here. Once it has a VIN number though, the sales manager should be able get an accurate ETA from Subaru. If you're super anxious to get your hands on one though, you can ask your dealer to look around for cars located in your area that are currently sitting on lots, or will be delivered to nearby dealers soon or as one other person said, be proactive and start calling around.

Or you can just wait until yours comes in! haha
