Default 2008 Subaru legacy performance questions.

I have an 08 legacy 2.5, unfortunately its a automatic and not the GT version. I love the car tho and i want to get more of a performance edge on it. I have about 2000 to spend on upgrades. What would be the best parts to replace to get the most HP out of? Thanks.

Do suspension mods, get a nice muffler and call it a day. You will drive yourself nuts trying to squeeze power out of an NA.
Get some nice AGX or Koni inserts and springs, rear sway bar and maybe trailing arms and bushings all around?

I could be wrong, but I would assume the newer Legacys would be flashable like the newer Imprezas are, so there are definitely power and driveability enhancements to be had by reflashing the ECU.

Some reground cams from Delta Cam and some exhaust work would be your best bang for the buck. Cams, header and reflash should net some appreciable gains without breaking the bank.

Beyond that, I concur with Gr3en, that much of your $2000 should be spent on handling bits to make the car more fun to drive.

2009 Impreza 2.5i


I've got the '09 Impreza 2.5i go with the suspension. There are performance items out there for the NA 2.5's but they are few and far between. There are a couple of places developing or producing headers for our engines that provide some improvement. Romraider provides support for the AT Legacy 2.5i's, so a tune is doable. The aforementioned cam regrind is a good option.

Other than that, there's not really a whole lot out there.

I guess there's lightened crank pulley...
