Default Alex's free wrx build.

Hey everyone, I tried posting in projects but it said I don't have permission so if this is the wrong forum please just move it. Creating this forum to show progress and to get help where I need it.

My goal: get a 04-05 wrx and make it look sweet, and spend little to nothing. I'm going to p*** some people off with what I like so if you don't like a wrx looking like an sti then you should probably stop reading.

So my story starts with me being a cheap @$$ and trying to get myself a wrx/sti lookalike without paying the price of what everyone local wants for a wrx. (6000-9000) and I don't mind a project. So I started with buying a pos Audi A4 for dirt cheap that needed work. Spent $1600 getting it and another $150 fixing it. Flipped it for a ford ranger which the guy wanted 4K. I took the ranger to someone to get a wrb wrx automatic with 30k on the box crate motor. This wrx had a leak and a idle fluctuation issue but f*** it I'm getting a wrx for $1750.

I then found another 05 wrx for $1000, This one need a new clutch and it doesn't have a title so it's all parts. I plan on using the front end of this car and the transmission. The rest of the car is going to be parted out and sold. the front end and automatic transmission will be sold on the other car to make the money I spent back and hopefully not have spent any money.

So recap: use clean title 03 as base with motor, use 05 for the front end and transmission.

Total spent $2750 nothing sold yet but will be posting as parts sell how much I have in this project. First priority is getting the transmission out of 05 and into 03. Next front end swap and sweet sti knock off crap. I'm going to be as cheap as I can on this for as long as I can but I'm only being so cheap to start to see what I can turn this into without spending money.

Sick toddler keeping me busy last couple days. First day alone and I've got the manual transmission dropped from the 05. Next is the automatic transmission from the 03.

While the MT is out, check the universal joint for the shifter, if it has play, fix it now.
May also want the "shifter bushing kit" from COBB, KartBoy, etc. for when it goes back in.
