Default 07 2.5i TO bearing failing?

I was told by my mechanic my throwout bearing is on it's way out. When it's cold and on cold starts it's rather noisy, but once it's warm it's hardly noticeable. He told me I may as well replace the clutch since they'd already be in it. With parts and labor he said it would be 750 bucks. I REALLY don't have the money for this right now. From what I've gathered the car is still drivable, but there is no telling when it will fail, that's the risk you take. I'm having no problems shifting gears and it seems to drive fine. I'm aware it needs to be addressed, but is it something I need to run out and fix or do I truly have a little bit of time to get my money up?

Its really up to you on this one. No one on here can tell how bad your clutch is. But if your throw out bearing is going your clutch could really fail at any time. Not saying it will and you prob could get a way with driving it for a few months, but i would sure have the money set aside for when it does go out. I would looking into buying the exedy clutch kit online, you can get it for anywhere from 160-190 online and then just pay your guy to install it. Would prob save you like 200 dollars. no matter what i would do it as soon as your bank account lets you...

The labor for this is the big cost.

TOB is <$100 and a whole clutch kit (which includes the TOB) is only like $200-300. The rest is labor. Considering you're probably looking at $600 either way, it's definitely worth putting a clutch & pressure plate in if you're planning on the long term.

If TOB is going, it can destroy the snout of the transmission case, which is a more expensive repair. It usually doesn't, so it may be worth it to risk that... but you don't want to be the 1 in 10.

I had this problem on my bugeye, needless to say I drove about 15k miles with a messed up TOB. Car jerked while taking off in 1st but definitely drive able.

Take your advice from the comment above though, as these aren't exactly toys.
