Default Moving to cali!

So me and my girlfriend are looking to move to Cali from Washington this summer. I was trying to get some ideas of some good locations that are in the area. We are looking for a good house and good location near the beaches. Please give me any input or advice. Thank you subi friends!!

If you're looking for a house close to the beach I'm any part of Cali, plan to drop a minimum of 600k for a home ( which will most likely be a 1-2 bed single bath).

I live in South Lake Tahoe, work in Alameda and drive back and forth almost weekly (2.5-3 hrs) and I have to say Alameda, Walnut Creek, and the nearby areas are the best "bang for your buck" even though a buck doesnt go far in the East Bay.

I prefer Alameda because its a seemingly quiet community in the middle of big cities. Its nice to be able to walk around town or drive 5 mins to a big city.

Being from the "country" back in the NorthEast I prefer the North Bay. Marin is always too expensive, but would be my ideal place to live, so I live in Sonoma County instead. (Farther away from SF is generally cheaper going North). 45 minutes from San Fran, 45 minutes from the coast (Bodega Bay), 2.5 hours from Tahoe. I have different tastes than others though. I hate traffic and would never live in a city, but being close enough to visit is nice.
