Default bye bye WRX. Hello BRZ

Finally decided to make the switch and go with a BRZ over my wrx. So far I'm happy with it and feel it was the right choice. (money was an issue since I took a new job, and the gas/insurance savings for the BRZ are great!)

Anyone else around here make that switch, or who else has a BRZ?

according to truecar.com, yes they are selling below invoice. They are also eligible for VIP pricing now.

I got a BRZ as a early-onset-midlife-crisis fun car and kept my WRX as a winter beater. The WRX beats it in raw acceleration (and turbo lag) but the BRZ has better handling. They are both fun cars in different ways. I do some karting and the WRX used to feel like a city bus after driving the karts. The BRZ just feels like a more comfortable go kart. The gas mileage is definitely a nice bonus. I managed 400 miles on 12 gallons on my last tank. For me it is not really a "keeper" like the WRX is, mostly because I do a lot of winter driving so it doesn't make much sense to have a RWD car year round. I will probably sell it at the end of this summer for what I owe on it, and run my WRX into the ground some more.

picked up a 6mt frs the other night, other car is a modded to hell fxt, Compared to a brz i liked the idea of having less money in a depreciable asset, that and the dealer gave what i was looking for on trade.

i'm loving the car, the factory tires were horrible, they were changed out on the first tank of gas.

mpg is great, the last tank got 34 mpg (all hwy just about), the first 30, the second 31.

absolutely has nowhere near the power, but it isn't a dog either.

for my uses it will be sticking around a long time, never will see winter though.

overall, till now i've never had a sporty car in this price range that i could happily leave stock (other than tires)

FWIW, the stock tires on the BRZ/FR-S are the same as the sport package for Euro Priuses.

There are two different tire possibilities.

Michelins and Bridgestone turanzas. My guess is most press cars got the michelins.

The turanzas have a would I buy again 2 out of 10 on tire rack if that can be any indication. On an economy car like they typically come on they'd be fine, and I know it's written that the tire choice was to make the car easy to break lose or whatever. But in practice they just plain felt unsafe, it was almost like driving in the rain all the time.

I would imagine the MPGs will go up after the engine is broken in more too. It was noticeable with my WRX.

I have a BRZ in addition to my WRX. My WRX is pretty heavily modified and the BRZ is stock aside from wheels and tires. I prefer the BRZ.

I made the switch in October from a '10 WRX and have absolutely no regrets. I love the BRZ.

I switched from a 2012 STi to an FR-S. Absolutely loved it and would never go back.
