Default So the Direzza ZII is really the fastest street tire?

"The Direzza ZII still posed a lap time better by over 2/10s on a short 29-second course! The Direzza also had the best slalom time, tied with the Rival for first in average cornering, and came in second in stopping distance in the dry. It also beat the Rival in the wet."

What's your experience so far? Are these good in longer sessions at the track too?

I can't speak for the ZII, but I can compare the Rival and Z1 SS with the RS3 for a track tire.

The Rival has a great plateau of grip that lasts for a couple good laps, very controllable, good sidewall stiffness, good breakaway and recovery qualities, what looks like outstanding wear resistance.

The Z1 SS is similar in most aspects, maybe just slightly less overall grip compared to the Rival, but grip levels drop sooner and more tire wear.

The RS3 definitely has the most ultimate grip of the three, not as easily controllable as the other 2, but when you get used to how the tire reacts it is the quickest around a race track. Probably about 2 good laps, if you are really pushing it, as the grip level drops off. High wear rate on the shoulders, they get heat cycled out within 3-5 events and are significantly slower.

I would really like to see how the ZII stacks up against its predecesor, which I liked, and the RS3, Rival.

All tires were 255/40/17, car is 3350lbs race weight.
My friends are doing the Redline Time Attack series, here in California, both of them are in 2006 STI's (255/40/17 tires as well) leading their respective classes, Street and Enthusiast. This is my personal experience with these tires, but all three of us agree on the above.
