Default Formula 1 2013 - Round 10: Magyar Nagydij from the Hungaroring

"Monaco without the houses"

Now in its 28th year on the calendar, the Hungaroring will host the F1 circus as they return to action after a 3-week break. This will be the final race before the summer break, giving the teams some much-needed R&R.

Last year, Lewis Hamilton won from pole position as Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean rounded out the podium. This is a track on which it's notoriously difficult to pass another car, even with degrading tires and a DRS zone nearly the full length of the main straight. The top 8 finishers looked like this:

1. HAM
2. RAI
3. GRO
4. VET
5. ALO
6. BUT
7. SEN
8. WEB

Having utilized the soft and super-soft Bridgestone tires in the past at this track, Pirelli initially offered the hard and medium compounds, and had intended to debut an all-new construction at this race. After the blowout debacle at Silverstone and threats of a driver boycott in the event of further failures, Pirelli fast-tracked a familiar kevlar-based contruction for Germany, and will introduce 2012-construction tires with 2013's compounds in Hungary. Prior to the race at the Nurburgring and the young driver test at Silverstone, Pirelli also announced they would be supplying the medium and soft compounds for round 10. All of the teams (bar Mercedes) have had an opportunity to test these tires in warm conditions at Silverstone.

So, who will secure the all-important pole position and survive the heat of 70 laps in Hungary? The tenth round of the season starts in less than 7 days!

Confirmed two, although the second one is in a weird spot.

Single detection point for Hungary’s two DRS zones

Drivers will be able to use an extra burst of DRS during this year’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Hungaroring is the latest circuit to add a second DRS zone for this year’s race. Drivers will be able to activate DRS at the exit of turn one and at the exit of the final corner.

With a single detection point positioned in turn 13, drivers will be able to use DRS on two consecutive straights to increase their chances of overtaking.

The Hungaroring has typically been one of the toughest tracks for overtaking on the F1 calendar.

Sucks for Kimi, said the new tires don't suit his driving style. But he's always strong over a race distance so he could have a similar race to last year. He needs Hamilton to stay in front and hold up the field.

I'm interested to see what sergio and Mark can do starting off on Mediums. Sergio can last forever on tires so should be good to see how far he can push!
Hope mark's bad luck with the car stops! He can't get a break!

For sure Lewis will probably drop to p3 by the end of lap 1. Then its gonna be interesting to see if Alonso passes Rosberg, or if Rosberg is held up behind Lewis. If so, will Rosberg hold up the field like lewis did for him in Monaco??

If the wind is the same as it was today, the lead car will be punching a huge hole, just like in Bahrain. That could open up some overtaking opportunities into T1.

I'm with the consensus on this: The Mercs are going to burn their tires off in short order.

Do it, because I don't feel like watching all of P3 to see it.

I told you exactly what time to go to. Watch the end of P3, too, to see Perez putting his car in the barrier.
