During the week of Dec 9, 2013, Subaru of America (SOA) hosted an event at Long Meadow Ranch, which is within California's Napa Valley. The event offered the first opportunity for North American automotive journalists to test drive the new 2015 WRX.

The 2015 Subaru WRX Press Kit
The following documents were distributed to all the journalists in attendance and contain most of the information which SOA deemed essential/basic for journalists to know about the new WRX.

2015 Subaru WRX At-A-Glance
2015 Subaru WRX Equipment
2015 Subaru WRX Technical Specifications
2015 Subaru WRX Release

SOA Journalist Briefing video
This is a video of the 25 minute briefing given to the journalists by SOA's Todd Hill. It describes how the new WRX differs from its predecessors. Thanks to TFLcar for recording and posting this briefing (something SOA should have done).

Written Reviews - First Drive/Impressions
Subaru embargoed driving impressions articles until 10 AM ET Dec 16. Below is a summary of the media output generated by that event. Note that the weather was relatively cold there (23F/-5C at 8AM on Dec 10) and the new WRX is equipped with summer tires.

In my humble opinion, it would have made infinitely more sense to have the first post of the existing 2015 WRX thread edited to include your list. Especially in light of the fact that mods have been working hard to keep but one 2015 WRX thread open.

All of these reviews/conversations are already posted and being discussed at length.

We're going to wind up with two substantially-identical threads, instead of coordinating an edit of a single post in the other thread. As is commonly done on the forums to avoid threads in the same forum, including the same information and the same discussions.

Thanks for compiling this so those of us looking for actual news don't have to sort through the pile of poo posts (from guys like the one quoted below) in the other *official* thread.

I for one am glad he made it. Its a mess in the other thread to find any reviews linked on the car.

Yes there is Google but a once place to find them all is nice.

Thanks OP!

Mechanically it seems awesome, aesthetically, not so much. It's like a Camry with a hood scoop. IMHO

Thank you! This was much needed. The other thread is an absolute disaster in terms of finding real/useful information at this point.

Hey, would it be inappropriate to add the Subaru WRX development videos in here too? Like the one with the engineers explaining things?

No, other thread is for 0-60 and trap speeds, plus hatch bitching and faux carbon fiber lust.

You're turning it into the other thread by even mentioning it and going on about it. Weird how that works, right? And I'm contributing.

CBB, I didn't know your name was Jesus...

Thanks for this new thread. Totally better than having to sift through the 200+ page gripefest.

SoapBox: of course you'd edit your post to remove the "Jesus". Speaks volumes about your character.

Liked that one as well.

One comment though:

Quote:
The extra power at lower boost comes from unique camshafts with roller rockers and stronger valve springs for a higher redline of 6700 rpm.

Read more: http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-revi...#ixzz2nl63GWtM
The WRX is making peak power at, what, 5600 RPMs? So no, stronger valve springs enabling a higher redline has nothing to do with its increased power output over the FXT.

I hate that editors are really lacking in some of the technical aspects.

Have to say I'm excited about this car. Had it been out in 2012 I would have bought this over my Impreza sport in a heart beat. Maybe they'll offer a hatch in 2-3 years and I can grab that then
