Thumbs up WRX is here too - Colorado Springs!

I opted to NOT lose a ton money on my MY00 2.5RS, so I am taking it full blown turbo, and watching my friends get WRX's.

I was at Heuberger Motors in Colorado Springs today with Paul Brizal (PunkRS on iclub), and we were disappointed that his wasnt in but other's were there, so we checked them all out. The Yellow isn't that bad, but I'm not that keen about a "post-it note yellow" car. The Silver with wing was really sweet though.

Then Paul Waibel (Diz on iclub) showed up to see about buying a blue wagon that wasn't pre-sold. So we had some Latte's at the Dealership's coffee bar and then went for a test drive in my 5 psi turbo and they were thrilled - my car is faster than the WRX that Diz had been given rides in before. Then I wicked it up to 7 psi and they really loved it!

So, as we were getting ready to leave, guess what pulled up outside. The transport truck with PunkRS's Red WRX on it!! He picks it up at 12noon tomorrow. So cool!

I will be planning to mod his car intake and other stuff ASAP, although I don't have permission yet

Larry- Let's get some pics once you get the WRX modded. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I don't think Larry has too much to worry about with the WRX! His car is brutal fast and sounds so cool. The power is instantaneous and very linear right up to redline. That's one little RS that you don't want to mess around with!

Yeah, the car does run better with the bigger turbo and extra injectors now - dunno why the misfire CE light makes it run faster either

Even burninrubber sez it is the second fastest RS he's been in when I push it to 8 psi on a cold day. But, I suspect the WRX will be as much fun, even if it is only as fast as my car at 5 psi, per Diz...

WRX eater

Hey Chilluns -

Here's the scoop (no pun intendend). Some fool let the Dizman drive a WRX wagon last night. Initial impressions:

Exterior -
Originally, I wasn't too crazy about the blue. However, it is really starting to grow on me. I am still sticking to my guns and saying this car will win no beauty contests. The stock 16s aren't as bad in person, but still must go.

Interior -
The seats rock. I had a hard time getting comfy at first, but once I stopped fidgiting, everything was cool. The visibility is good and view of the road is commanding. I'm a little disappointed that you can't hear whats goin' on under the hood. Lack of road noise is good. Lack of turbo noise is a bummer. I find the interior one of the main selling points on the car. Spartan and useful.

Performance -
The car is a dog off the line if you don't keep it on boil. Pulling out in front of something like a dump truck at a leisurely pace will get you turned into street quiche. That being said, once it is rolling and you have the revs up, things are a bit more interesting. This is no RS. Rev it, dammit.

Handling -
I could definately feel the wagon throwing it's weight around. The body roll is noticable, but it squats into the corners nicely. My coilovers should fix that.

The verdict - I'm driving a sedan today and I will most likely buy one.

hey, you sound like the guy i was talking to over the blue wagon when you got out. me and my friend were checking it out as you discussed the wagon's tail and your coilovers from your silver RS. if that was you than this is me, the guy in the white sweater. btw, you're saleslady was pissed off after your run in the wagon! that was funny to see her getting all pissy after you left. check out the local racer scene on my site, TheRacerNetwork.com. thanks for the brief info you gave me!
