Post 6lb 20" rims!

So some kids decided to go around the neighborhood last night and slash tires, one of which was on my 77 Landcruiser.

I called around and discount tire in Boulder had the 33x12.5 15's in stock (!) so I cruised right on over to snag one.

Anyway while I was there the manager really wanted to sell me wheels for the WRX. I told him (however more kindly) that I didn't want his stinkin rims but if he could hook me up with some Volk GT-P 17x7 5x100 +50 at around 390 each I'd be all happy.

He was confident enough to take down all the information and see what he could do...intersting. Meanwhile, he went on to tell me about how Discount Tire only works with manufacturers that will warranty their craftmanship for 1 million dollars or something (implying that if he can't get my Volks they must be crap - not Scottish.)

I told him that I realize he prolly doesn't have much demand for 500/ea wheels. Then he had to tell me about the 20" rims he put on some guy's pickup.

I kind of made a sour face at him and was like 'I need something light not just flashy..'

Then he replied, 'those were 6 pounds each.'

I said I'd believe that when I see it. I can't believe what people will say to try and make a sale. What a friggin stooge... Somehow I don't think he'll be able to come up with at-cost Volks for me.

Oh well just had to share my little funny and kill some time before the AVS play... GO AVS!!

Good Grief, that sounds like a shady place to me. I wouldn't go there anymore. 20" rims that weigh 6 Lbs, good grief.

My roomate got his wheels for his '97 Tahoe there. Says he's had nothing but good experience. If you go in with a price that someone else is offering, they'll do whatever they can to beat it. I've been looking into a set of silver focal f5's and found them on the web for $529 for the set (no BS, usually closer to a grand). They said they could match the price no problem and said they can probably get me a set of Pirelli P7000's for around $100/ea. I'm gonna see what they could do on some prodrive's
