Post "Just Plane Fun" Car/Air etc, show...

[Note: For those also on the SPCR email list, I apologize for the cross-post- but I realize we have many members who do not check the I-club]

In this months REDLINE (a SCCA newsletter), a guy mentioned that there is a event at Centennial Airport called "Just Plane Fun". It is a car and airplane show, and he wants all types of race cars/interesting cars to show up. I sent an email to Centennial about this, and hope to recieve a responce tommarow. It would be a great opportunity to show off our Scoobies and all of the hard work we have done to them to a BIG (they are expecting 15,000+) crowd. It is Saturday, May 12th. Maybe we could get some RS-T's out there and maybe some new WRX's.

Mike Jerry- Might be a good chance to show off your car and SELL it, some of these folks (pilots) have mucho money to throw around.

Email or post if interested and I will post more info as I get it.

JJ

I would also like to attend. It depends on some of my other friends though. They're graduating and having various parties and whatnot. I'll have to do some investigating. JJ, if you find out any more info, let me/us know.

Unhappy

RATS! I'm going to be in Grand Junction visiting my Mom for Mother's Day.

BTW - We wouldn't want Mike to sell his car, now would we? I would really miss all the smack-talkin'.

Sorry for not giving time and where, etc. You can go to Centennial Airport's website, I have the link below:

Just Plane Fun 2001

I will try and get more info on it as I can. The article in REDLINE also talks about it. Basically it is 5/12/01 and setup is 0600hrs-0800hrs with going home at 1700hrs. I will try and email this William Bradley guy who wrote it.

JJ is it possible that we just attend the first part of the day? I only ask because a bunch of my friends are having graduation parties and there will be some on that same Saturday. I'd like to go to both but probably wouldn't be able to attend for the whole day. Just trying to get my plans straghtened out. Let me know.

I can go, too. There isn't an autoX that weekend is there? It should still be fun.

Hot off the presses- (phone, actually)

I just talked to Dave Bos (pronounced Boss) from Cruisin' Productions and he is excited about having us show up.

It is Sat May 12th at Centennial Airport (holler if you need directions).

There is no cost.

Anything on wheels goes, from classics to the new imports.

You need to be there between 0900-1000 to get registered and parked. There will be 150-200 cars there, and they have space for 250. He will try to park us in a group.

The car show usually wraps up around 1530 with prizes.

I am going to try and contact a Subie dealer to see if they would be interested in getting us some sitckers, etc for the event. Of course, this is a car show, so try to get your car nice and clean. That's the final information as of now.....

JJ - I have had some business come up on Saturday afternoon and I may not be able to make it afterall. Unfortunately, I will not know for sure till late in the week, so if you need a definite headcount, you might as well count me out.

[<FONT size="5"><FONT face="Arial"><FONT COLOR="Navy">FINAL DETAILS</FONT c></FONT f></FONT s>

Final details are available at: Centennial's Web-site .

Basically, show up at 9am to get registered, show and shine 12pm-3pm (that means you have 3 hours to look at planes), and go home at 3pm.

It sounds like early departures are frowned upon, as well as late arrivals. (HAHA airport talk!!).

I am bringing some sheets with our club information on it and also some SCCA membership applications.

Bring:

--Yourself (duh)

--Your car (double-duh)

--Some money for food, etc (they even have airplane/helicopter rides, oh BOY!! )

--Water and sunscreen, etc.

--I would recommend some terry cloth towels and quik-detailer also.

--Your auto-x numbers if you have them.

--Your camera/camcorder and anything else I forgot you want to bring.

This is going to be huge!! They are expecting up to 500 aircraft to be on display and up to 200 vehicles.

Burt is a major sponsor, so if you have autox numbers on, cover up your VIN's and your license plates.

Directions: I-25 north or south to Arapahoe Road, East on Arapahoe to Peoria, south on peoria.

See you Saturday!!
