Thanks for checking that.

So, by "fog light" here, you mean the small bulb, not the main fog light bulb, correct? If so, then it looks like it functions either as a city light or DRL. However, the fact that the first two oem light stalk positions (off and city) turns on both the C light and "fog light" is rather odd.

I would have thought that with both the C light and "fog light" present (and I don't mean the real fog light), the C light might serve as the side clearance light, and the "fog light" might serve as the city light.

Check out Bellipoten's build thread for a video and pics in fog housings.

Agreed on the high-beam DRL disable front.
These are the exact bulbs I bought! That's the thread I based by purchase on. The opening on my car is sort of an elongated circle/oval shape, not a perfect circe - I'm just assuming the housing is different to the NA models

Any luck finding out a price or part number for the rear foglight kit?

Nope the guys from Subaru didn't have those two parts in their inventory list yet cause the car is so new. Are the part numbers printed on the pieces at all? could I take apart my bumper and find one?

So I went and did some minor mods to the foglight housing because the LED's i bought didn't fit through the hole. I just got my Dremel out and made it bigger! only had to shave about 2mm.

bottom hole is the main H16/H11 bulb, top on is the smaller P12W bulb.

Mounted

Removing the bumper allowed me to find a nice shelf to mount the ballast, hopefully its ok here - not sure how hot that thing gets.

Finished product

Someone also asked me to take a clear photo of the front grill so I snapped one while it was off

Yea there should be, and any chance you checked the grill for a part number well it was off.

Perfect! Nice idea on getting the LED bulb to fit in the ADM/JDM fog housings, great location for the drivers and thanks for the extra pics of the grill, etc.

Your photos of the headlights clearly shows there is something running through the C-shape on the limited headlights. I wonder what that is and if you could see any wires coming out of either end of the C on the back of the assembly.

If you ever pull them, can you check please? And if you pull the headlights apart for any reason - can you unclip the C-shape cover (its just a plastic piece held in place by clips) and see what's under there?

Thumbs up

Love your car. Emailed a few Australian parts departments with no luck. Been wanting to get the front grille and fasteners for the rear fog lamp. Want what I can't have. Envious of the extras. Wish ours came from the factory like that.

Please let us know if you're able to get part numbers. I'm especially interested in getting a AUDM front grill.

cpalada, awesome thread & info!!

can you get a shot of the headlight plug or backside of the headlight housing by chance? I want to see if the PIN-out's are different between your headlight & my US-spec limited housing. Might be as simple as swapping pins in the back of the housing to enable the "C" LED's as DRL's.

Any updates on how to make the c shape led the drl on the us spec lights? Curious and want to do this to mine. Also has anyone tried to maybe switch out the LED For the c shape?

We did - no luck. The two LED strips and one acrylic rod we had handy didn't fit in there under the cover. Plus there was no way to route them properly short of drilling two holes in the assembly (at each end of the C). We tried both an empty 194/168 socket for a clean install and a direct wire-in job. We opted not to use them.

Even with a strong LED, the C shape on the Base/Premium is fairly useless as a DRL.

However having talked through some ideas with a friend who helped me re-wire a whole bunch of Subarus DRLs, independent fogs, etc. we have some up with a clean OEM+ solution.

We will use the turn-signal bulbs as DRLs.

1. replace the 7440 sockets with 7443
2. obtain some amber/white switch-back LEDs
3. wire in the amber lead as normal (to maintain standard turn-signal functionality)
4. wire in the white lead as DRLs, by-passing and upstream of the stock resistor box circuit (this will cause the turn signal reflector bulb to light up white as the DRL when turn signals aren't used)

Clean, simple, similar to C5/C6 Corvettes.

Hey - Fellow Aussie here who just ordered a 2015 STI.

Just wondering if you could do me a favour - I'm wanting to retrofit the active rear mirror as per this guide but i'm unsure if the Aussie versions come with the loom run into the headliner like that guide suggests. Do you mind taking a look in there on yours? If it is maybe we can put together a little group buy for these things.

If I order this for a US car, is it plug and play?

Don't I have to get a new switch for the knob next to the steering wheel?

Can you take a pic of the rear fog light switch on the dash? I'm looking to order all the parts to be exactly like your stock. When I did my 135i, I just had to order the uk switch and swap it out with the US one. It was all plug and play. I'm really hoping the rear fog for this car is all plug and play also.

USDM was not wired for the fog so you will need to do some splicing. It's not quite plug and play.

So you don't think the wiring harness is not universal?

It's got to be there somewhere. Maybe running the line to the harness and adding a fuse to the spot that is currently blank. Wonder how hard it would be to look under the dash and in the trunk to follow the wiring and find the spot to clip in the connection wire.

I'm not saying I dont believe you. I've just seen on other vehicles that the wiring is already apart of the harness, you just have to hunt for it.

On a Mini Cooper I had I wanted to add the dog lights that didn't come with the car. I punched out the blank plastic in the bumper. I also punched out the plastic spot on the dash where the on/off switch was supposed to be. I found the wiring harness under the dash and under the bumper. I just had to untie the harness and find the spot that had the plastic tab. I removed that, ran the wire from the lights to it. I then found the spot in the fuse box under the hood. Then I found in the dash harness another blank tab. Ran the wire to that. Everything was there to click in the harnesses. The switch popped in. All with oem parts. Just had to do a little leg work. In short, most manufactures have the same wiring harnesses for every car, but depending on region and options, they put the tabs in the spots where the wire run isn't needed.

Any ideas in getting a wiring diagram to compare?

I'd be willing to do a how to if I had the diagrams.

Yeah if you don't mind. Since these cars are so new, I'm wondering if someone has invested the time to check out the wiring diagrams.

I'll admit defeat if I have to and splice. But I'd rather not have it in unless I have a switch. They are rather blinding and should only be used when necessary.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I was hoping some Aussies might be able to help me out. I want to replace both the daytime lights and foglights. Ideally I want the daytime lights to match the headlights and bright yellow foglights.

If I am correct I can get something like the PIAA H16 yellow ion or nokya globes which will fit the foglights. Now the daytime lights are P13w and there isn't that much around, are they known as something different?

I found these http://www.blingworkauto.com.au/prod...86-mazda-cx-5/
But I'm not keen on paying $60 for them as that seems overpriced.
