Default DIY: 2015 sti blinkers on wrx.

For detailed install instructions and harness purchase for this mod visit defroy.org, most of the info from this post is there and more.

Figured I would see if it were possible to put the sti blinker and caps on my wrx, well they fit, though there is no wiring for the blinkers.

Parts you will need to order:
Lamp assy turn sdlh 84401aj010
Lamp assy turn sdrh 84401aj000

Cover cap repair lh 91059va030
Cover cap repair rh 91059va020

Will also need screws 4 of them, I'll add part numbers when they come in.

First you will need to pry your stock mirror apart.

Take a pry tool and wiggle it between the upper and lower side part of mirror.

Pull the bottom trim off carefully then peel up the painted part till it snaps off.

Mirror is apart, can take a peek inside but I didn't see anything to connect the led signal to.

Video picks up after this point, Don't make fun of me im still learning GoPro studio. Also sorry for the no music or anything, could not figure that part out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqtSpJerlIY

this is where it stops for now, will finish once all parts and I figured out wiring. Here's some pics as a tease.

Should be easy enough to integrate.

I would be interested in knowing how to wire this up as this is something I would like on my car when I get it. Nice Post!

Thank you! I was wondering if this was possible.

Does the factory mirror harness has any extra wires that aren't being used? Id assume all cars would come pre-wired bit then again WRX prob had a different harness than the STI.

It would be nice if we could find someone with an STI to take apart their mirror and see where the wiring is coming from. This is cool though. $254 is well worth it.

Thanks for creating this. I don't know why Subaru would leave a safety option off the WRX but do it for the STi.

So aside from wiring, it looks like you just need the top half of the mirror and the light itself?

Ausie WRXs have these as standard. I wonder if they would actually make the wiring so differently for USDM models...

I guess impreza version of the mirror wiring isn't same as WRX's?

It is very easy to custom wire into your existing turn signals, as I've already done it (just in a different location on the side body, hidden behind the fake wheel vents). There are only two wires, + and -, so it's impossible to screw up practically. I'll be putting amber lenses on this at some point since the overwhelming majority of people think the white is too obnoxious.

This might help. I already had my door panel off, so I figured I'd take a few pics. This is the harness from the main door harness to the mirror harness. As you can see, there are more wires on the door that don't extend to the mirror. You can probably add the harness and have a functional mirror light, but I haven't tested voltages.

According to the service manual it is pin 1 and 5 which is at the end of that connector. Gray and Black wires for passenger side and White with Red stripe and Black for drivers side. Black is ground.

Can you buy the sti mirror assembly wiring harness? It should have the same connector but have the extra wires and the end connector for the turn signal lamp.

this is great info; it'd be fantastic if this were as easy as swapping a harness and popping on the STI parts

This seems legit since my picture is of the passenger side and you can clearly see the gray and black wires that are unused. Any chance you can post a picture from the manual of the connector with pin numbers shown? I can't see how 1 and 5 pins correspond with the unused gray and black I'm seeing unless the black you're referencing is the common ground for the mirror. That would leave an extra black wire for something else. Beyond that, there are two other wires that are unused as well and I'm wondering if they're for the power folding or what. Now, we just need a part number for the harness...

http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost....55&postcount=1 The 10 pin connector listed here has the same pin-out numbers as the side mirror connector. Pin 5 is the black ground wire and pin 1 is the left or right signal.

If you are looking at the service manual it is under the "Turn Signal Light and Hazard Light System" "Wiring Diagram".

I started researching this a month ago because I want to make the same change. I ordered my car in May and will not receive it until August.
