Post Our cars are Fragile

I still love my car to death but my opinion of Subaru is a little dashed. Well Pooh, a couple of Honda/Acura guys and i went playing in a wet parking lot saturday night. Of course i tried the e-brake. Well afterward it started feeling funny when i turned. I did circles with Pooh the friends in the middle to listen. My inside tire started chirping. Backing up while turning (and only while turning) became a car stalling, grinding, moaning, ordeal to the car. I have driven drag cars with a spooled rear axle that exibited the same traits. What kinda "rally inspired car" breaks a rear end with some agressive driving and an e-brake pull? I hope this is a fluke. I have had 15 yr old beaten down cars that never broke a rear end, even after LOTS of e-brake pulls. Ah well i hope its fixed by the meet this weekend.

From what I understand, E-brake sliding is terrible in an awd car with a viscous center coupling b/c when you pull the brake it tries to lock the rear but when the start to lock the center diff locks up and tries to lock the front wheels. This is a violent shock on the drivetrain. It is no comparison to pulling the E-brake on a FWD or RWD car which is only hard on the tires IMO. I pulled the handbrake a couple of times in my brothers car (99 RS) before I found out about this but his was ok. Hope you get it going again soon.

Im gonna give it to Huffines, where i bought it. Look to the drivetrain where i posted this too. See how much i get ragged on. Every day i loose a little respect for most of the members, kinda like the general driving public. Not that im saying im the smartest of the bunch.

It's painfully evident he should not have done what he did, stating the obvious seems to be a epidemic around iClub.

As for 8C's comment, I've seen his videos, which are actually a great source of pride for me, being able to think that my car can do that in the rain.

I will be suprised if 8Complex didnt get bashed, or wont get bashed. Im just pi$$ed that someone insulted my driving skills (of which there are admitidly little of) without knowing me. As well as saying "I cant believe you did that" when othe more respected members do it make videos of it. I guess i should post im sorry i havent hit 555 yet, or sorry i learned the hard way.

Thumbs up

The "Rally inspired" vehicle has something we dont have.... an adjustible centre differential... not to mention several other goodies.

When you can tell your car to be me 90%rear power and 10% front power... you can throw up some e-brakes... but at 50-50 like what we have....not good

Looks like i fixed it by ragging on it more.
Copy of post from drivetrain, as i am lazy:

Well I only did a short pull up and down, during a scandinavian flick, as that was the only way to induce massive oversteer and possibly end up in a scoobienut. Nothing that hasn't been done before by other members.
8Complex: I just did a clutch dump at 6k RPM on a slick (note slick so as not to kill drivetrain) wet road. After a loud POP it appears that the problem corrected itself. I will still take it to the dealership and have them further investigate.

Gambit: The only mod I have is an intake. I do plan on learning how to drive AWD cars better. I am used to driving fast RWD cars. (1200 RWHP 70 Camaro, 600 RWHP 350 powered Chevy Vega, 550 RWHP Single Turbo Supra, 350 RWHP TT 300 ZX.) Although admitidly I do need some seat time at auto-x to hone my driving skills.
