MAPerformance 2015/16 WRX 93 Oct Tune Development With Cobb AP

Hey everyone! I wanted to share some results from our recent tuning adventures with the 2015 WRX. Our goal is to provide our custom tune FREE with purchase of a Cobb Accessport from us! We can go into more detail with that later. Let's get down to the numbers!

Our first order of business is to get the car on the dyno to obtain some base numbers. Looking at the stock graph, some interesting things can be seen. Notice at the 5200rpm mark, there is a sudden drop in power. This is due to the poor factory tune detecting knock, and pulling timing. This was the first area we wanted to address both power wise, and safety.

Next step is to get the Cobb Accessport connected, and flash one of their OTS maps. Since the car is completely stock at this time, I went with their Stage 1 93 octane tune. Right away, you can tell the knocking issues are gone! Power is much smoother, and actually caries on up top unlike the factory tune. Target boost on the Stage 1 OTS map is 19psi

As most of you may know, the Cobb OTS maps are pretty conservative out of the box, as they need to be. But there is usually a bit more room to close in those gaps with a pro tune. We are pretty happy with our results. Again, this car is completely stock, stock intake, filter, stock J-pipe, downpipe, cat back, intercooler, charge pipe, and boost controller. We managed to pick up 34whp and 49wtq over the OTS map! I am excited to see how this is going to feel on the road!

Here is the boost curve and timing of the Cobb Stage 1 OTS map

And our tune's boost curve and timing

Stock peak boost- 19psi
MAP Stage 1 peak boost- 20.5psi

Stock rev limit boost- 13psi
MAP Stage 1 rev limit boost- 15psi

***Until further notice, this tune will only work with 93 or 92 octane only!!!*** A 91 octane tune will be developed very shortly.

As we spent some time with this, we can really see the benefits of a Grimmspeed EBC, as well as the intercooler and charge pipe. Although the small twin scroll design is pretty efficient, we were still surprised to see how long it took to reach peak boost. I am hoping with the intercooler, charge pipe, and donwpipe, we can solve this issue. Stay tuned for more results ans we start bolting on some parts next!

We should be releasing the deal shortly. Just want to smooth out the mid range a bit more before we give it to the public. I will let everyone know once it's out!

Take all the time that you need! Rather wait and have a better product!

That is correct

After you purchase the AP, we will also email you our MAP Stage 1 tune file. I think we should have this ready to go by the end of this week, early next week!

We have a 91 tune available as well. You just need to specify that when purchasing the AP. I Would feel safer running 92 on the 91 tune, than the other way around in my opinion.
