Default Maaco or other cheap paint jobs

I was wondering if anyone has gone to Maaco or have seen the results of one of those $300 paint jobs that they advertise. We have a 95 Golf that the paint is wearing off, there is rust and it's been keyed (pretty bad). It's a beater has over 100k on the odo.

The plan is to keep the car for another year or two then sell it. We figured that the money invested in a cheap paint job would pay for itself in the sale and the car would look better for the next year or so.

One dude showed up to a UCKK meet with a Maaco paint job on his AE86 and it looked okay. It all depends on which Maaco you take the car to. Some may do horrendous jobs, some may do better jobs. What numerous people have suggested is to do the prep work yourself (that is if you know how or have buddies that know how) and just take it to them to paint the car. Prep work is where they cut corners anyway since it's so cheap and they don't have much time to prep your car. Since the majority of the work is the prep work, it kinda makes or breaks a paint job. Take a look at their work first and then decide. Obviously, you know the saying, "you get what you paid for." Just in case, ask how their warranties work and what would void it since I've heard some stories about certain paint shops just refusing to honor them due to some BS.
