Christmas: What to do with $1000?
Hey guys,
I know some of you may hate these types of posts but I have a grand to play with and I'm clueless about where to start modding my car. All I've done so far is remove the silencer. I'm also looking for something which won't deny warrenty or at least be borderline. I've been thinking about EBC, Alarm (I hear certified audio is a quality alarm place???), Turbo Timer, Boost Gauge, Sway/Strut bars, K&N filter(a bit leary about MAF senser mess up though). I am strongly considering a vishnu stage zero in a couple years when the warrenty is over as well. If you have any comments/suggestions/additions to those listed above I'm all ears. Since I am a little new to the mod scene, input about quality of brands would also be appreciated. It's either performance or a sound system, I'm debating as a good audio system can become a theft magnet. If you have any suggestions in the audio department I'd like to hear them as well. Anyway thank you for your time. P.S. At the meet someone had asked me how much my Toyo Garit HT winter tires were and they are $125.99 US each. RezaREX

Definitely get an alarm. It pays to have a visual theft deterrant these days, whether or not you live in a high car theft area.
And sound system doesn't have to be all "flashy". A good set of speakers, amp and head unit is sufficient for enjoyment. Unless of course you want to be all flashy, but a grand isn't going to cut it. On the more performance end of things, better summer tires is definitely a good move. As with a rear sway bar, and strut braces if you want to just throw them on for fun. Some people will say they don't do anything (strut bars), but hey, its your money, and they're relatively cheap so why not? Or a decent catback exhaust for a bit more oomph...they normally run close to a grand already. But I think the best idea is for you to send me that $1000 this Christmas. It'll be the best feeling in the world for you knowing that you made a fellow man feel better after a terrible few months. |

(OPS, i should check their site more often )
As for the 1 'large' the first mod i would suggest is tires. Take the RE92s and pay someone to pick em up from your place. then put on some high performance tires. I put SO-3s on my ride and the difference is night and day. I would wait until winter is over for that mod tho . stephen Last edited by Mel 22B; 11-22-2002 at 12:28 PM. |

Keep saving and get a UTEC. Best $1000US I have spent. The improvment in the car is night and day just on the stage 1 map.

Your foreign exchange rate arithmetic is a little off.
For those who skipped all their math classes since grade 2. Vishnu Stage SUBZERO - $635USD Exchange @ $1.60 CAD / $1 USD - (Conversatively high) = $1016 CAD |

I know a couple guys at Visions on the south side. I could put in a good word for you if you are interested in getting an alarm or something for a system. Let me know if you are interested in going that route. They do good work there from what I have seen and the prices are pretty good.

Hey guys thanx for all the input. I'm really leaning toward an alarm first then I'm thinking about gauges. Then when I have money I'll look at tires. Chris, if it were further down the road and I already had some of the more neccesary mods I'd definately consider those rims but for now the alarm comes first. I wish you luck in selling them though.

Reza, protect your investment - first & foremost. Speed you don't need right now. We all know how that can get you (& me) into trouble. If you have something left over, get the things that can help you maintain your investment - good cleaning/polishing/waxing supplies & a load of supersoft towels or even mudflaps. If you still have left over, get something that aids in convenience everytime you use the car ie. tint, trunk light, better lighting, etc. You'll never look back & say, "I shouldn't have bought that," when it comes to maintainence. If you still have left over, buy us all a round at the next meet.
